Royals just took the second game.
I'd like better prediction powers please. Or failing that, a system where the regular season is actually much more predictive of postseason success.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Well, after Giants took game one, Cardinals took game two.
However, Cardinals catcher Molina got injured in the 7th, and it looks like he may be out for the postseason. Given the numbers of Molina versus their backup catcher, if the Cards do make it to the World Series, they'd better pray they get to face the Orioles instead of the Royals.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Well, the Royals just ground out the third win versus the orioles. Wat
Man, the Orioles are gonna get themselves swept.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. It seemed silly to point this out earlier, but now that they're on the verge... Technically, the Royals still have not lost a playoff game since 1985.
The Royal Rampage continues, and the World Series awaits. Final score is 2-1.
To be honest, the main problem the Orioles had was their closer failing to deliver. If Britton had, it would probably be a 2-2 tied series right now, and not a full sweep.

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)29 years without even a postseason berth and now they're in the World Series without losing a single game. Just damn. They may as well just go all the way now.
And a reminder of 29 years ago.
I actually kind of hope the Cardinals pull ahead of the Giants, because the spectacle of a rematch 29 years in the making is too good to not happen.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Well, it's gonna be a tall order for the Cards to come back now. To tell the truth, even as an avowed Cardinals fan, I almost wouldn't mind if they lost just this once. The Royals have been the best story in baseball since, well, the 2011 Cardinals, and if they're not playing a team I'm invested in during the World Series, that makes it easier for me to root for them. Also, from much of the coverage I've been reading, it's a little wearisome to see that directing hate at Cardinals fans seems to be the cool thing to do now. Yes, we're a dedicated bunch and our team happens to be doing well right now. So what?
Looks like it's not...
...in the Cards.
YEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHH!
Final score 6-3, Giants win on a walk-off three run shot to move on. This will be the second time since the 1995 expansion that two wild card teams faced off in the World Series. Interestingly enough, the Giants were one of those teams back then, losing to the Angels in 2002.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)GIANTS WIN!!!!!!!!!
We've got Posey and Bumgarner. Casilla's unbeatable. Ishikawa and The Panda are on fire. KC has no chance. Giants are winning the World Series too.

Aw shame the O's didn't win (got swept in fact). Well at least my brother still has the Ravens to cheer for I guess.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Bring it! Our Moose is loose!! Shields is rested and ready to go! Royals gonna lay the smack down! /thumps chest
(I've always wanted to do something like that. )
i. hear. a. sound. Can't help it, I LOL'd. That meme never gets old for me. The Cardinals seem to always find some way to be in it, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were right there again next year.
So then, both of the Wild Card winners made it all the way to the World Series. The Royals may not have lost a game yet, but the Giants have been nearly as dominant over the past several years as the Cards. Know what, I want this series to go seven.

Well, game one was predictable. The Mad Bum was lights out as usual (one run and three hits over seven innings), while Shields can't pitch in the postseason for squat. Final score: Giants 7, Royals 1.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)...and so the sweep begins.

i have to say after all that's happened this postseason, for it to simply end with a Giants sweep of the World Series would be an anticlimactic letdown from a neutral perspective. They can win, but please let it be in 6 or 7 games.
And so the sweep ends.
i. hear. a. sound.Well, apparently the Royals said "our turn" and then the Giants bullpen imploded. Final score 7-2, and the series is now tied.
The worst part is that Tim Lincecum got injured after 1.2 (flawless) innings of relief. Even if it's not major, if that injury is enough to make this his only appearance this series, then that could be the deciding factor, given the bullpen implosion.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Wow. People say Bochy is a great manager, but he still plays Strickland.
Giants are still winning this thing though.
Don't party just yet, as Royals pulled out a tight one. Final score 3-2, and Royals move up two games to one.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)That was a fun game. Bunch of great plays on both sides.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. And now time for another Giant blowout. (Pun potential, ho!) Final score of 11-4, and the series is once again tied.

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Bumgarner pitches tomorrow and they're using NL rules, making him even more dominant.

That game was kind of weird. At times it looked like things were going out of control — there'd be a wild pitch or a bad throw on the field or something — and then the very next at bat they'd turn a double play or catch the inside of the strike zone for a perfect called strike three on a 3-2 count. Still, the fact that the Royals built themselves a solid lead, lost it, then went into extra innings and built themselves another solid lead made for fun watching.
