How so?
"Too many ponies..."
But thanks for the forum post. Maybe we could find something simpler, like the ol' sledgehammer for a fly?
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.You wanna at least link us to the image? I'm going to downvote it regardless, but just for kicks I want to see how bad it is.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.I dont have a picture at all but reading the description on the MLP page
"That death trap mentioned earlier has Daring Do tied up, surrounded by what one assumes to be poisonous spiders and snakes, with spiked walls closing in, and all while quicksand is pouring into the room."
If you could get a good shot of all that in one image it would work.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I think a cyborg aiming a bunch of guns at an unarmed guy gets the point across nicely
Keep Until Better Image Suggested
The MLP deathtrap has a character tied to a table in a room with spike-covered walls closing in while the room also fills with sand, spiders, and cobras. Definitely an example, but I don't know how great of a picture it would make, or if it's better than what's up there now. I don't see any reason to change what we have.
Reaction Image RepositoryYeah that's not better at all. Quite worse, actually.
I agree. That scene is a great example of this trope, but there isn't one single frame that shows it too well.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. That doesn't even start to get the point across. The pony-demon looks happy to be in the trap. It really doesn't even look like a trap. Bad, bad image.
The second one at least looks like a trap. But it still doesn't demonstrate the trope.

"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.Still doesn't show any overkill....it would work on the Death Trap page though, if it didn't already have an image. Someone should make an Image Links page for that.
So it's not overkill to have spike walls, and sand, and spiders, and cobras?
That's not my point. None of those images show "overkill" clearly and are not an improvement over the current pic. In most cases, simpler is better. The current pic gets the point across and there's no reason to change it.
Exactly. Also while some people might not be a War Machine fan, there isn't a significant hatedom for him. Pony-demons, on the other hand, certainly draw plenty of ire. Not just from me.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.I think if anything is worth replacing the current image, it's the Great Mouse Detective.
I'd post an image, but I don't know how to do it here. >_>

Now I don't have a problem with War Machine. My actual issue with the picture is that it's not really clear he's about to attack that guy. He could just be rolling along to help that guy, or that guy is just sitting there, and War Machine rolls up.
So I would like to see a picture that makes it clear the overkill is out to get somebody.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid....I think on a page with "kill" in the title, we can guess what his intents are.
Well is actually doing that in the comic? If not, then we have a wrong context picture.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Does it really matter? He looks like he wants to kill him. The pic works.
Even if if the war machine isn't killing the guy, the sheer fact that he has that many guns covers the trope anyway.
The Pony pictures don't really get the point across well because in any given frame only one or two aspects of the deathtrap are in focus. Good example bad image.
@Martello: Will you drop the anti-pony stuff already? It's fine if you don't like it, but the series of origin doesn't really affect whether it's a good picture or not.

Reaction Image RepositoryI could, I guess, but that wouldn't be very fun.
And I argue that the series of origin can affect how suitable of an image it is. The more iconic and well-known the source, the more people will identify with it.
Also, the bronies around here seem intent on putting pony-demon images on as many pages as possible. You don't see a similar effort in any other fandom. Anime can be like that sometimes, but that's just a medium, and there's a good bit of variation within it.
So in other words, I'm going to keep fighting the good fight. I also think "pony-demon" is a funny word and I'm glad I just came up with it.

"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler. There was a similar effort to push Haruhi images through back when that was popular. The MLP thing isn't really unique.
"A picture of the Death Trap from today's MLP episode would work better."
You mean you like the example better? The picture clearly is not.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.
A picture of the Death Trap from today's MLP episode would work better.
