Yes, it went back up that night. Wasn't when I posted that, though.

Looks like grouchy barefoot Khajiit is with us for the long haul. (Or at least for several more updates.)

Also, her name's apparently Rajirra.

I haven't played skyrim in a while.

Was there a skill you could level up to make you not completely awful at social situations? Katia needs to dump a bunch of points into that.

Speechcraft?

Oh, I actually was thinking of Oblivion since I never played Skyrim, but I assumed the skills were all the same.

Skyrim does have a Speech skill, but it's not all that useful, unless you like selling lots of stolen stuff. (They took Mercantile and Speechcraft from Oblivion and combined them into one skill.)

It's also up there as one of the hardest skills to level naturally.

I just started reading this webcomic a few weeks ago, and I gotta say it's pretty brilliant. At times even inspirational. It's refreshing to see a story set in a fantasy world that has its stakes centred mostly around one person trying to get her life in order. And as someone who has played (and liked!) Oblivion, it's fun seeing the setting utilised so well, without it actually overwhelming the story.

Not that she'll need it after the end of today's update.

Although I'm getting a tad tired of the build-up here and wish we'd get to the payoff already.

All this build-up makes me think of the time at the dinner party where the comic kept building up Katia's horrible failure, only to subvert it and introduce ASOTIL our of nowhere. I'm thinking another subversion is coming, but if I had to guess, this time it will simply be Katia handling the situation competently, showing she actually has come a long way since the beginning.

Update.

...and Katia took ALL the levels in badass on this one. Killing a über-imp by herself, with magic.

I'm not sure what to do there

Edit: Good job, Katia

I'm going to assume the lack of a health bar is because of Katia's Atronach ability just absorbing all the damage (even though she still gets knocked down)?

Considering how the attic was completely wrecked in the process, the shopkeeper might refuse to pay her. In fact, one brutally ironic way the whole thing could resolve is for some lingering flames from the fight to reignite and burn down the shop entirely. Although if that were going to happen, the inferno from before probably wouldn't have died down in the first place.

Maybe the shopkeeper refuses to pay her and berates her for taking the job in the first place when her only offensive tactic is flinging fire around a house made of wood, but the warrior who would otherwise have taken the job thanks her for being there to deal with the murderboss that would have jumped him otherwise.

...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.

That, or Ra'Jirra somehow convinced the shopkeeper the job was done and took off with the reward.

Or both !

My, Ra'jirra is just a total asshole, isn't she?

Katia better not settle for thirty percent.

[up][up]Yep, this is Prequel Quest. She is totally going to abscond with the whole reward and leave Katia stuck with the bill for damages inflicted.
