It also uses a visual pun where a straight example would be preferable
Pulled for copyright issue.
Yep.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.The second one's 404-ing.
Cartoon one doesn't show the setting, and I got 404'd on the photo one. The former could work anyway, though.
Ninja'd.

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn! The photo on this article. Did that work?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.That one's okay.
That works...I like it.
BTW, I sent an email to the guy who made the picture that was pulled. Waiting for a response.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. We! Have! PERMISSION!
Yes, you have my permission to use the cartoon. Is there any way the image could link back to my site? If not, that's OK. If any of my other comics fit other tropes, just let me know & I'll more than likely allow their use.
Thanks for getting in touch,
Kelly Ferguson
So we can put that picture back up, and just put that link to the site on the picture.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Since the copyright violation was the main reason the image got pulled, I put it back up.
Reaction Image RepositoryAnd the archive made it nice enough to find the original strip to also link to.
So if we find other pictures on the site that could fit a page without a picture, we can just email her about it.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Awesomeness!
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I hate to be a wet blanket but doesn't the Fair Use violation (entire work) trump permission?
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. If so, that would be silly, as the point is to avoid copyright infringement, and permission means no infringement. But we should still look it up, just to be sure.
I just don't know where it's written down.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Well, the thing is that it doesn't mention permission, but doesn't exclude it either.
But the good news is that copyright means the holder gets to decide who can use a work outside of fair use. As the decision was made that we could use it, it's not a copyright violation, same as a lot of the original Deviant Art pictures we've posted here.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Well then, looks good to me. I liked the comic better than any of the other suggestions anyway. It's cute.
Rhymes with "Protracted."I'll ask for that to be accounted for on the copyright page in "editing locked threads".
EDIT: Added it to the "IP thread criteria" list, how's it look?

Permission from the copyright holder makes Fair Use irrelevant. "Fair Use" is about what you can do without permission.
Permission from the copyright holder trumps everything else in copyright questions.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Not trying to be a rules lawyer. I am really confused about what is okay to use. Conflicting signals or I don't get it. This says permission doesn't matter if it's the whole work... "Even if they say yes, though, we still have to apply Fair Use."

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Does anyone prefer this one?
It's a little dark, but I like it other than that.
Since we have permission from the artist to use the original cartoon image, is there a good reason to find a different one?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.You know, I'd forgotten about that. I moved the link to the actual comic into the examples list and tweaked the tag a bit. With that, we're done here; locking up.
Hmm… looks like a fair use violation to me. current image◊
