I'm making a video (well, more than one, but I'm at the first part) regarding the history of Tengen. You know, that old atari spinoff that made a load of unlicensed NES games (don't worry, the video will be longer than that). Sadly, I seem to have a fact mixed up.

Most sources have cited that Atari got a hold on the 10NES lockout chip via a false lawsuit. This is true, however, what I've never been able to find some actual facts answering two questions that sprung to mind:

What came of that lawsuit? For what I've seen, Nintendo and Atari (tengen) didn't see in court until the Sega-Atari vs Nintendo lawsuit, and the Tetris one. I can't really accept that it just "faded away". Does anyone know what happened?

Did they get the chip in question for the litigation, or as a consequence of the litigation? If the second were true, how did that happen?

Thanks in advance :)

You might want to ask the guys at Digitpress, who are a virtual storehouse of this kind of information.

If nobody there knows, then its likely nobody knows, period.
