It's not really a trope, it's just a stock phrase.
I'd say we just cut it.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianUgh, textbook Stock Phrase right here. Nothing but a list of quotes with no significance. This needs a cut.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Voting cut for the reasons above.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickLooking at the description, it seems that it's trying to be a trope, but it's failing miserably. Support the cut.
I'm tempted to support keeping this, if only because it's such a common stock phrase, but then again, that wouldn't be enough for it to make it past YKTTW if it was proposed today. I guess the only really consistent approach here is to cut it.
If this gets cut, should mention of it be moved to Other Stock Phrases?
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartThe surrounding context is that the villain leaves the hero imprisoned while he goes resuming his Evil Plan and/or/of World Domination. That might have some tropeable value, but...
Oh, and I've personally always thought this title sounded too much like I Need to Go Iron My Dog.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.But it's not just a villain leaving the hero in his death trap, it also gives other contexts for the phrase.
It was made with the phrase in mind instead of a trope.

Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianOther contexts...? Okay then, I agree. That's one of the issues explicitly spelled out under No New Stock Phrases, and the same reason we don't like character-named tropes anymore.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Cut. Tropes are defined by events and characters, not by the use of specific lines of dialog. The "trope" in question does not meet that definition, and thus should be cut.
Yeah. "List of times characters said [X]" is about as tropable as sitting on chairs. And "List of times characters said [X] when [Y] happened" (linking the Stock Phrase to its surrounding context) really boils down to "List of times [trope Y] happened".

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Cut it. Not A Trope.

Let's give it a few more days just in case. I doubt the crowner is going to change very much, but stranger things have happened.
I think we can call this now.
Calling. 12:1 consensus to cut.
Wicks removed, put this page (as well as its laconic) on the Cut List.
It was cut. We can close this now.
