I really liked Cirque Du Soleil's performance.

And now I want to see The Artist, as well as all the nominees for Best Animated that I haven't seen already.

Been browsing the internet and people are seriously pissed off about Chris Rock's crack on voice acting. I mean What Do You Mean It's Not Heinous? pissed off.

While I'd definitely prefer if companies like Dreamworks didn't make Celebrity Voice Actors the focal point of their marketing, it was still a freaking joke. lol

I haven't seen a video of him actually saying it, but I suppose the way he said it could have been somewhat ambiguous. Did he appear to be in Joking Mode?

Looking for some stories?

It's like when he took the piss out of Jude Law. His comedy act is all wrong for the venue. We should move on.

(By the same token, any VA worth their salt knows there's no difference between acting and voice acting. Just because Rock phones it in all the time doesn't mean it's meant to be easy)

I finally saw The Artist. Best picture? Well, okay — it's the first nominee I've been able to sit through for along time. The trouble is, it really is an indie throwback film. I felt it hued a bit too close to the trappings of the silent genre. No surprises.

But this is a small complaint, because it really is superb.

Chris Rock was the best part of the awards, it's ridiculous for people to be upset with him. His appearance was the most entertaining thing in the whole evening ("...and if you're a black guy, you can play a zebra, or a donkey!").

Here's the thing: Animation IS easy...if you're Chris Rock or Eddie Murphy and are basically just playing yourself. In all other cases, if you have to create a voice on the fly or if you have to get your voice within a certain time, while also matching the exact intonation of the original, but also making it sound original...

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.
