Sonic in SSBB works for me (hell, Sonic's the reason I ever got that game!) Even though I didn't have this reaction, I just got as is a Sonic fan.

Sonic and Mario is fine.
Though I really don't get why everyone treats memes like really ugly spiders. With huge fucking venomous fangs. But whatever, Sonic and Mario works FANTASTICLY.

I'm not a fan of telling people, "If you didn't have this reaction, you're lying/have no soul/aren't human/whatever".
How about tweaking El Bruno's sentence: "The internet exploded twice the day of that reveal after all." Maybe something like "The Internet exploded twice the day this was announced."
