Bumping so that the world may vote. Might I also note what a nice bunch of option we have for this one; seriously, there does not look to be a wrong answer for once.
Of those options, I like the silhouettes best.
Rhymes with "Protracted."The silhouettes are great but it kinda looks like the guy on the ground has no head, the other guy pulverized it.
They are all good, no downvotes from me, but I like no-text Hellboy best. It is simultaneously simple and interesting-looking; the others are only one or the other IMO.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Mike Mignola is good at drawing this type of image. If I had a halfway decent scanner I think I could come up with a few more good Hellboy options.
The problem with the Hellboy pics is that they don't convey enough of the trope for me...this is about when someone gets beaten to a pulp, long past the point where they can fight back to any extent. I wish I could've found a better source for the pics leading up to Robin getting crowbar'd, because he gets punched out and then kicked in the gut/groin (panel could be either) before the Joker lays into him...what I found was completely off color-wise.
Here's◊ the scenes I was talking about...could someone take panels 3 and 4 and color-correct them to match what's in the crowner?
Actually, before that...would adding those be overkill?
With the pic we have on the crowner (thought I suggested it) I agree with you. But in the comic he has some moments that fit the trope to a tee. But I'm a bit biased because I'm a sucker for good graphic novel art. I think your Joker one is really good as is though. I voted it up.
Edit: I actually think the Joker stuff you have in the crowner is better than that new material even if edited.

I think added frames would be confusing. That sequence says "the fight is over, the crowbar hits are overkill" pretty loudly.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. We have a close one. Vote!
I know there's a crowner up, but I'd thought I'd offer a suggestion. How about one of these covers? In my opinion, they both get the idea across very well without actually showing the act: I prefer this one,◊ but this one may be a little clearer.◊
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)Add them.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Man, I really love the silhouettes one. So simple yet so brutal. If it doesn't get picked, I'm definitely using this as my avatar.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Well, it seems that the silhouettes image is clearly on the lead. Change?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Nah, for our crowners this is still pretty close, give it a little bit more time for a consensus to be had.
Right; this one's been shifting around since it started.
Wondering if someone with some photophop skillz could make the silhouettes look slightly less pixelated around the edges. then we'd have a winner for sure.
And Rodney did that. Awesome.

Here's the current leader cropped to less than 350 pixels wide.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon Stewart
The one in the crowner is 300px wide.
My browser must be set to slightly zooming in on images, then, * because when I took a screenshot of the version in the crowner the image worked out to just barely more than 350 pixels wide. (Had to crop out the leftmost drop of blood to get it less than 350.)
In any case, we can use images up to 350 pixels wide, so there's no sense going for a 300-pixel version.

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartThere is sense in how the 300px is sharper and lacks artifacts*.
Good to hear. Artifact is so not a verb.

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn! And this thing appears to be getting more one sided in the voting...
How about now?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Yep, looks pretty well decided.
