Either an eye, or a Japanese character I guess?
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Goku's hair? Regular for manga, super saiyen for anime?
Fight smart, not fair.I dont know if DBZ is the best to use here though hmm

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Ah, we need two, is it? I think for Manga we should use a B&W Astro Boy head or something similar.
Some options: (The eye was from The Other Wiki's Commons.)
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.
Like that idea.
Fight smart, not fair.I like the Astro Boy head, distinctive shape even small.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Any of those would be great. Maybe use one of the Astro Boy heads for Manga/ and a colored version of the eye for Anime/?
That was my intention, yeah.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. Not exactly sure we should use the astroboy one for manga it seems too small.
A Tsurime eye might work or 漫画 [1]

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I think we should go with Astro Boy's head. He is the character that helped launch manga and anime into what it is. It was the first anime series to be dubbed in the United States, and I think that such an iconic figure would work.
First "anime" though... the icon is strictly for "Manga".
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!The Astro Boy icons are at 16x16, so they're as big as they can be and still work.
As far as using characters, I considered that but thought that something more image-oriented would work better since that's the route the other namespaces have taken with their icons.

It's been forever since I double posted.

Fight smart, not fair.I like that. Will it work when resized though?
I think we shouldn't treat the anime and manga icons as just "anime icon, times two". Anime is more popular and less varied than manga, so it can take the more popular icons; manga on the other hand should appear less "anime": black and white and preferably a bit ancient to differentiate it with the modern style more associated with anime. Okay I don't know how to articulate it well, but Tezuka is distinctly "manga" for me. I don't even read or watch his works, so not fan myopia here.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. The eye is good for one or the other.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Exactly; the icons need to be very distinct from each other to keep them from being confused.
Deboss, that one's too tall after resizing.

I think Astro Boy is best for Manga and Goku for Anime, myself. Perhaps not the specific pictures given, if there's size issues, but...
"Shit, our candidate is a psychopath. Better replace him with Newt Gingrich."How are these?
Like the first a bit better for some reason. Both are good though.
Fight smart, not fair.I prefer the first icon of Astro Boy in post 5, and Wilbyr's Goku icon.
"Shit, our candidate is a psychopath. Better replace him with Newt Gingrich."Personally, I lean toward the Naruto icon, just because it's a little brighter and you see what it is a little better.
A project that's been sitting in limbo for a while now is getting icons for some of the namespaces that don't have them yet. Neither Anime/ nor Manga/ have icons, so I thought we might be able to whip one up for each. I had originally thought that a tareme eye and an tsurime eye would work, but when I played around with them they looked like crap so I canned that plan. The icons have to be 16x16 pixels. Any ideas? If someone can do nice eyes at that size, more power to you.
