I like her better without the dolling up. Part of what makes me like Coorie was her "homely" look partially (probably) because I was with a girl who dressed that way and I still liked her. As in seriously, she was a white girl, somewhat short with glasses and blonde hair. And she was obsessive and "nerdy". And another reason was my biases that girls who dressed up tended to be shallow bitches - something which has decreased as a bias from personal exprience showing otherwise. Still, they sux =P
Also Coorie changed MORE than the "nerd glasses" - she fucking revamped her hair and shit. I think she got hair extensions as well - aka "weaves" given how her hair was. Also voice tone. KNEW it was her when her tone changed.

Spoiler code looks [[spoiler:like this]] here
The battle with the Grand Cross was frickin' awesome.
Bishoujo Coorie. XD
Oh, Chiaki, never change. Well, maybe a little. Start being a bit more dere to Marika.
I'm now worried for the real Luca, and amused that Kane has an android double as well. And Ririka's piloting for mysterious masked dude and they're headed for the nest. Awesome.
Another thing to look forward to next episode: NINJA PIRATES. And Chiaki getting flustered while pulling a blanket over herself like a little kid (aww).
New episode is out already and every single minute is hilarious!
Ah, Chiaki. Can you be anymore adorable?
I just realized that half of Bentenmaru's main cast are hot women.
Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter Natter NatterHahahaha..... oh Chiaki....
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...They almost got me with that thing with Luca. Would have believed she really did go kaput. Good thing that Ririka was there!
Coorie now has a harem! Coolness.
I'm really interested in what Ironbeard said about pirates having to make a choice in the near future.
Great episode, lots of funny moments. I'd take my time analyzing all the other plot points but I totally lost it when I saw Chiaki singing the pirate anthem. Just...

The final episode. It's like, wow.
Is it strange I want more of this show? I think not. It's been the best 26-episoder to me in my life. All the lolz, all the wows, all the booms. Alls well that ends well, and might continue just as well. Now all we need is to make the studio roll the 2nd season
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...A movie was apparently green-lit in Japan. It was announced just after the final episode.
Sentai's dubbing this, so I hope they also grab the movie.

Well, whoever called Ironbeard being Marika's father get's to say I Knew It!.
All in all a very satisfying conclusion to a satisfying series. I've seen series that have executed individual elements of drama, action, comedy and philosophical pondering better, but I have seen precious few series who managed to balance them as well as this one has for a solid, fun adventure.
Bring on the movie! (and bring on Marika/Chiaki being canon!)
Fairly good, but not terribly satisfying as an ending. This trend of tying things up in movies is becoming irritating
Ah yeah. Been waiting so I could binge the last 4 episodes. Be back in a bit.
The final episode was fantastic. The whole ship-to-ship combat sequence was just amazing to behold, with all the tricks and maneuvers and the boarding. I am especially interested in the Captains I dub Spoonbeard and Ninja, but really, everyone got to show off.
As for the second half, we get to glimpse at what the other characters are doing plus an "the adventure continues" end. Turns out Ironbeard is Gonzaemon but like a lot of other plot threads we won't get to see where it leads to. So yeah, while the epilogue was emotionally satisfying in my opinion, there's undoubtedly a lot of material that the anime hasn't covered yet.
I'm glad to hear that this is getting a movie adaptation, but I'd really, really like a season two at some point.
Anybody else seen the dub of this yet? I liked seeing it on Blu-Ray and I don't have that many complaints about it.
I'm liking the dub so far, I'm a bit quizzical about them preserving the honorifics though.
Watched the first episode's dub. Poor voice choice for Misa, and keeping the honourifics was a terrible idea (especially with most of the actors mispronouncing them).
But at least this is better than some other recent dubs I've seen where they keep the names in Eastern order, or jump around both name orders, or only occasionally keep the honourifics (when they need to match lip movements), etc.
Those two issues aside, it's good.

Don't generally watch dubs some maybe someone could confirm for my if one of the naming issues from the subs carries over.
The first arc starts of calling Lynn Lambretta, Rin in the subtitles but when episode 13 roles around it's switched to Lynn (like in the profile from the closing credits and what Crunchyroll used for their subs), but still uses Rin in the credit list.
Does this reflect a change in the pronunciation with the dub or what?
Aren't Lin and Rin the same pronunciation in Japanese?
My guess is that someone subbing it heard "Rin" and so dubbed it that way. Which is how it would be spelled for a Japanese person. However, Lynn is not Japanese, and her canonical name uses the English spelling for the name.
I started watching this the other day when people over on r/anime kept bringing it up in end-of-year discussions. I honestly didn't expect much from a show called "Miniskirt Space Pirates"; never have I been happier to be wrong. Seriously, this is some of the best space opera I've seen in a far, far too long—there really needs to be more shows like this.
deviantArt | TwitterYeah, we definitely need more of this type of stories.
Y'know, between this, Princess Tutu and Super Gals. My neice is going to get very familiar with Luci Chirstian's voice when I start showing her anime.
Up to episode 11 here and having a blast. It's a lot more in depth than I thought it was going to be.
Plus that opening theme! J-Pop on SPEEEEDDDDD!
Finished the show; while it's not perfect by any means, and the characters could definitely use more spotlight time, I still really enjoyed it. It embraced the space opera genre like little else in recent memory, presented a likeable and varied (okay maybe not gender-wise but still) cast and managed to avoid the fanservice trap which I expected it to fall into based on the title. Hell even the situations where it would've actually been expected (like, say, girls wearing skirts in microgravity) they avoided it, which I really appreciate.
The fact that I feel the need to actively voice my appreciation for not needlessly sexualizing its female characters may imply some bad things about the state of anime.
Either way, I really did love this show. It's just plain good old-fashioned fun, and I'd really like to spend more time in this world if a second season comes around.

If anything, I think The Kane double is another android ready to impersonate the crew
