More information:

• "Swan Song" is merely a fantranslation of "Zesshou"; its true meaning is closer to "Magnum Opus"
• It is explained on the site they are just regular, more powerful attacks and Kanade only died because she modified it (her's is supposed to be a drill thing) and her affinity with her gear was always too low anyway.
• Tsubasa's zesshou earlier in the series caused more damage than it should have because she modified it from its original form as well.
• The drug Kanade uses is called "LINKER".

What the fuck did I just watch? I think I need to rewatch 11 and 12 together to understand all that. No seriously: Chris' death seemed pointless, yes, but at least keep her dead. Tsubasa too. Phine isn't even that big an enemy, Genjuro could've easily beaten her. But to need entirely new forms? Seriously? Wtf was up with that? Chris even looks identical to Ultimate Madoka.

Is 12 the last episode or is there a 13th? Will there actually be a movie after this? Chris' Nehushtan armor looked more menacing than Phine's. Its still hard to take Phine seriously as the Big Bad in that outfit.

This is a 13 episode series.

So, everyone is alive, and with new forms. Which seems like it should be horrible overkill, since Fine is only slightly stronger than a single regular symphogear. But I assume that she's going to come up with something, despite her plans appearing to be in ruins, otherwise there'd be no reason for Hibiki to end up dead

So first, Hibiki turned into an embodiment of Wrath, so that would make the first part Hibiki's Wrath, then with the power of song and friendship, hibiki, tsubasa, and Chris gain the equivalent of Super Silhouette's. Cool.

I agree that was cool.

The writing staff decided to take the budget cut that halved the episode count as a chance to troll the viewers. Hibiki won't die, and the first scene of the first episode will be replaced with something else in the DVD and Blu-Ray releases.

Nah, that would be stupid.

My guess is that Hibiki awakens that song to fulfill everyone else's dreams. For Chris to... well, whatever her parents wished, for Tsubasa to sing internationally. So she probably is going to sacrifice her life and her new forms to let these two live again, maybe as normal humans rather than a Symphogear. The cost is she'll die.

It's... Madoka all over again.

Welp, I've recently finished watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica with my sanity intact despite epic heart- and gut-wrenching, and I'm considering Symphogear as the next item on my to-watch list. What fansub group would you recommend for this newbie?

If you're in America or Canada, FU Nimation is only behind by (exactly) a week... otherwise, GetWet up to the point they've reached, then just look for streams for the rest.

Okay, 1) How come the default outfits for Symphogear's magical girls (judging by the cover image◊, and some of the preview pics that I've seen on the download pages for the episode torrents) don't warrant listing any of the Fanservice Costumes tropes on the main page?

2) ... Are am I hallucinating? Because A MAGICAL GIRL WARRIOR WHO DUAL WIELDS BIG FREAKING BIFURCATED GATLING GUNS is too good to be true.
