The small Crimean town of Ohma had changed a lot since the end of the war. Once little more than a small cluster of farms, in the past century it thrived both as a merchant village and as a minor tourist attraction as the place where several heroes from the great war had once lived. It was early morning, and the town's modest guard was now changing shifts. Merchants began opening up shop and prpared to sell their wares, and the priests in the local church of Ashera were saying their morning parayers.

In a forest just outside the town, a force of mercenaries was preparing to attack. "So boss, did the Black Fang ever say why they wanted you to level this place?" one brigand asked, addressing a gruff, white-haired man with a large axe strapped to his back. "No, because I was too smart to ask them for information that would have endangered my life to know. All I needed to know was what they were offering to pay."

A lone hermit in beggars robes approached the Monastery wordlessly but with a fierce determination that none could deter him from.

He had left his old companions some time past, having imparted his gifts only to see them squandered.

Fire still burnt in him, and were he try to contain it then he would be consumed by it. Thus he would spread his fervour or be consumed by it, sharing this fate with the sun in the heavens.

Wisdom and words had long worn him and he walked now lightly, as a Soldier strode on parade.

He reached for his hood, pulling it down.

His eyes were bold and pure. He had his purpose and through it, could see all false prophets

"No Stranger am I to you though I may appear so. As I am much changed; I stand now awake."

"I bring with me the fire of the mountains," He moved his hand along his dirtied cheek, "Down to the valleys of man, that they may with it do more than keep warm at night."

"The Goddess has died a thousand years past, not to blade but to comfort. How easy the mind seeking tranquility forgets. Come, be my brothers once more and for the love of mankind, set the world a light."

Jyrus, seated on a tree stump, tilted his head towards his leader, before looking back at the brigand who asked the question. " Is any more reason necessary?" He inquired with a disdainful snort. " If you want a better cause, you're in the wrong line of work, friend." He shook his head softly and chuckled.

He idly picked at his teeth with a sliver of wood, watching the town through the thicket ahead. Didn't seem like too bad a place, actually quite pretty and quaint, small and rural as it was.

Pity. He thought, nose twitching. Nice town.

Wouldn't stop him from following his commands though. Nice town or not, money was money, and there weren't very many lines of work for someone as foreign as him.

He sighed, stopping picking his teeth, and scratched one of his ears instead, looking back at his fellow mercenaries. They were a motley group no doubt, and he was somewhat disappointed that his standards had fallen this far.

Still, no one to blame but yourself. He reminded himself. Exile isn't supposed to be pleasant.

He let out a low growl of anger at his predicament, before turning back to the sight of the town in contemplation.

Siegren leaned back against a tree, and thought on this. This was not right. Destroying Ohma would kill many noninvolved men, women and children, who had no part in any grand design or scheme thought up by some shadowy group.

He clenched the Sword of Leonis, beaten though it was, this sword was a mark of some import. He had been entrusted it by a woman who meant more to him than his own life, and he would not dirty its edge with innocent blood.

He walked over and said, "I... I do not think this is right. Ohma has a lot of uninvolved citizens who have most likely never lifted a blade. Are there not better payers than Black Fang?"

He had no idea who he was, but he was determined to fight to make sure a measure of good came of his life. She trusted him enough to tell him that. He was a man who had no past, no memories, for all she knew, he could have been a horrid person in his last life.

"Ahhhhhhh! A that's the town! So this is Ohma, huh? My, the place sure has changed a lot since I last passed this way. Even if I only passed by I can tell it wasn't this big all those years ago" said a cheerful voice in a clearing near the trail that would lead to the city in question. Jeanne knew it looked a little weird but she rather liked to voice her thoughts even if there was nobody around her.

The young looking woman shielded her eyes from the glare of the sun and took a good look at the distant civilization "Yup, it looks like mighty busy place. Getting some work there will be piece of cake"

With that the young archer took more secure hold of her bow and then hurried her steps. She would have to run if she wanted to arrive before all the activity died down.

And within Ohma proper a young man rested on a low seat of the local inn, an axe resting right within his reach. He didn't expect any trouble but it was better to be safe than sorry. Johan Karvonen entertained himself with quiet contemplation and by observing his surroundings as he waited for a particular piece of news to be delivered to him.

"Eh, would've been better if they knew beforehand" Alia said, calmly sharpening her lance, but giving off a sense of impatience. Oh well, it was decent pay she thought. Still, she was sure something was amiss. Why this town of all places? Was there something within? Whatever lies within that place, she didn't feel like voicing her suspicions like those two.

"So, isn't this against your teachings or whatever?" She asked, facing her partner who was tending their supplies.

"Well," Roland started, busy in organizing the pack. "Probably. Not much one can do about that; Life just goes on." he finished in a nonchalant tone. In truth, he was rather worried about the reason as well. He stopped to look at the town. It looked modest, a decent place to settle down he thought. "Too bad it'll be rubble soon." he muttered under his breath.

Lysander sat on the ground with his eyes staring at Ohma, how long had it been since he was stationed here during his time in the military? He was not around to see the evolution of Ohma from its initial humble beginnings into what it was now, but his time there he felt some pang of growth. Ironic that know he was preparing to now invade the town. Its inhabitants were unassuming and at peace something little towns should be more watchful of in these times.

The pay was good enough for the job he and the mercenaries were about to undertake, yet he felt something strange with this job. Razing villages was not a productive means to make profits, whoever had hired him and the others had something much more grander in design. Whether he would figure out why remained to be seen.

So he sat, quiet and motionless, staring off at the small town. His horse, Havel, was at his side, silently grazing until it was time to act. What a shame... he thought to himself.

"Even if there were jobs available that paid as well as this, crossing the fang would be a deadly move." The mercenary leader said to Siegren.

Sieg clenched his fist in anger, Black Fang demands it, so they have to do it or they'd be "crossing the Fang."

That was not right, this was a move inspired by fear of the Black Fang more than money or anything else. Those assassins were just tyrants in their own way.

Fear should not stop someone from doing what is right.

"Surely the Black Fang cannot be so powerful as to play at being like Mad King Ashnard..."

Jyrus stifled a small snarl, hearing the conversation behind him. He turned towards the pair, and gave them both an irritated glare.

" We were hired to do a job." He said shortly. " So we do the job. Simple as that. There's nothing more to it."

The wolf Laguz gave a sigh, exasperated, and ran a hand through his unkempt mane. " Its just business." He said idly, turning his gaze back towards Ohma. " Don't make more of it than it is."

"I agree with the laguz. If you didn't want to do work you though would be morally objectionable, you shouldn't have joined with us in the first place." The mercenary leader was losing his patience, but didn't want to risk starting a fight. He realized, however, that he would have to keep an eye on this one.

The small disagreement that took place caused Lysander to briefly avert his gaze from the town. One of the mercenaries was expressing doubts about the job, something that Lysander was also apprehensive about, yet he kept quiet. There was no use in causing conflict before a job.

"Hey," he started, turning towards the others,"when's this job going to start? Any signal we're supposed to be looking for?"

I'd be fine with work residing in the gray area...but outright slaughtering a whole town is simply pointless malevolence.

He reclined back, he was going to have to do something soon to prevent this. Hopefully someone defended that town so that he might be able to leave this force. They were a little too willing to slaughter just because of fear of this Fang or that Fang.

He did not really know what the Black Fang was, but if they required this of people...he would make sure they were done away with.

Jyrus groaned, laying back on the tree stump. " And how long is that going to take?" He asked, somewhat impatiently. He shifted his shoulders uncomfortably as he stared up at the azure sky through the trees. " The waiting..." He bared his teeth in an animal grimace, and shook his head, his long mane swishing back and forth.

" Sitting around just waiting, its like pulling my claws out." He scowled, drawing a flask from his belt. He unscrewed its top and took a sip, which seemed to calm him a little. " Either we hunt, or we do not, I don't care as long as it stop this incessant boredom." He growled, before taking another sip, which proved to be the last of the contents.

He sat up and glared through the foliage at the town. " Wish our guys would hurry the hell up!" He drew his arm back and hurled his flask at the nearest tree, where it dropped with a loud -clang- and a dent. Jyrus sighed and dropped back into his lying position. " They better have some more whisky in this town." He muttered.

"Excuse me sir," one of the priests of Ashera said to Sarath, finally emering from the church. "There is a temple of Yune being built a few blocks away, you may have better luck with your street preaching there."

A few of the town's merchants yelled things such as "Vulneraries are half-off today!" or "Whether you use bows, axes, swords or lances, we have the finest arms any traveler needs!" as well as other, similar offers to Jeanne.

"Do Memories weigh too heavily on your sleeping mind?" Sarath spat, "Do the logs that lie in your eyes blind you that you see nothing more than the comfort of the approaching flames that come to envelop the world? How then do you call yourself a preacher and not a poisoner if your great purpose is to spit these logs into the eyes of your fellow men to blind them. You are blind teacher of the arts, but should you not be deaf and dumb as well, you shall hear my words still."

"I can see it, but unfortunately I lack the coin you clearly desire" Jeanne told the nearest merchant with an apologetic smile as she showed her small and nearly empty coin bag. After all she had come to this new village to raise some money. Maybe then she would have the chance to indulge in making the merchants happy.

Arken arrived in Ohma with a full duffel bag and not a care in the world. There hadn't been a lot of activity in Daein for him to deal with, and the chain of command was tired of seeing him and his like doing nothing on duty, so he was gently encouraged to take leave until something bad happened, which is how Arken arrived in Ohma.

Arken had heard that Ohma had become something of a tourist attraction because of it's connection to the heroes of yore, so he figured it would be a good place to take a short vacation.

Arken checked into an inn and wandered around.

Midus walked up the street, having come from the direction of the (still under construction) temple of Yune. He had traveled across Tellius for a few months now, making sure never to be seen at any temple in the same town twice, or too often. As rare as the "Children of Ashunera" were, any that knew of, let alone listened to, the words of his father were rarer still.

'I might as well be the only one', he mused...

[[ (Copied from the Discussion thread) Hey guys. Since it looks like the fighting is going to start soon, here's a basic idea of how it's going to work. Whether or not you hit will be determined by rolling a 100-sided dice here. To find out what you are rolling against, you'll need the percentage of your opponents speed compared to your skill (you can use a calculator if you aren't sure what it is). For instance, a character whose skill is 9 attacking an opponent whose speed is 10 will need to roll a 10 or higher in order to hit. Please record all of your rolls and provide a link to them to ensure that everyone is playing fair. The amount of damage you do will either be your strength minus their defense or your magic minus their resistance, plus the MT of your current weapon (at this point, everyone's weapon will have an MT of 4). Afterward, your opponent will be able to automatically counterattack unless you are out of range. If your speed is 3 or more points greater than your opponent's, you may attack twice. Every attack also has a 5% chance of being a critical hit (except for attacks made by myrmidons, who at this point in the game have a 15% chance of scoring a critical hit) meaning that any dice roll higher than 95 (or 85) will do three times the normal amount of damage. I'll post this in the RP thread to to make sure everyone gets it. ]]

Blue Moon peered down from her vantage point on a nearby cliff; at the small trading village that she and the ruffians she worked with were about to raid. For the most part the soft villagers and what "guards" were present looked like easy marks soft simple peasants with gold, food, and weapons just ripe for the taking. There were a few individuals wandering around the village who made her worry, tough looking men and women who looked like they knew how to handle themselves in a fight. Whoever they were they were probably just travelers with no ties to the village and like most travelers they would, hopefully, flee when the raid started.

The thief known as Blue moon ran down the mountain trail to the bandit's encampment. Ready to report on the town guards' schedule and patrol route, two things she had learned in the weeks she had spent surveying Ohma. She considered mentioning the newcomers she had seen, but thought against it. Afterall if these bandits had trouble dealing with a couple of do-gooder interlopers then they weren't worth the rust on their axes.

[[Oh, and another important to note is a laguz character's laguz bar. A laguz bar increases by 2 points a turn normally and five points every time a laguz is attacked while in their human form. While in their animal form, the opposite is true. A laguz's laguz bar must be at 30 for them to transform. In human form, a laguz cannot attack an opponent directly and can only counterattack with an MT 0 punch. In laguz form, a laguz may attack normally and all of their stats are increased by 2 points for the duration of the transformation.]]

The mercenary leader nodded at Blue Moon. He cleared his voice and loudly addressed his company. "Okay everybody, it's about time for us to move in. Our orders are clear. This isn't going to be the type of job you're all used to. As opposed to killing everything in our path, we're only supposed to kill the town's guard and anyone else who gets in our way. Civilians who try to run are off limits. Aside from that, our primary job is to demolish the city as well as we can. We've been equipped with explosive barrels for things that won't burn, and plenty of torches for anything else. Any questions?"

Blue Moon caught the merc captain's attention with a piercing look from her ice cold eyes. "Any conditions on looting? Does the loot go into a common pile with everybody getting there fair share, or is it first come first serve?" She didn't hate being the person that had to bring this sort of thing up, after all for mercenary scum like herself and these fine fellows loot was living. She tapped her foot impatiently while awaiting the leader's answer.

"Also do we have any contigency plans, besides running away if things start going to shit?"
