Huh? Backwards? I even stated "since the turn of the century" in that first post, so obviously that's "recent". Although overall Arsenal has more titles than Chelsea, the latter has more titles "this century", and since no NBA team has existed prior to the First World War anyway (and with the Mavericks being relatively young) there was no point of going back to the 20th Century. Hence why the Spurs are Chelsea, the Mavs are Arsenal, and the Rockets are Spurs.

Anthony Davis had 26 pts, 17 rebounds, 9 blks and 4 stls in his first game.

Wow. That's actually pretty impressive.

There are three other teams with identical 4-3 records after 7 games, POR, PHO, and LAC. Assume that CLE and SAS also win their 7th game and they are also sporting a 4-3 record.

But SAS has "undermanned" as an excuse, CLE has "new roster" as an excuse, and POR, PHO, and LAC are just starting to "find their rhythm."

However, DAL is "underwhelming", "struggling", "below expectations", or all of them at the same time.

The Mavs, underwhelming?

Their roster is closest to their 2011 championship team. I fail to read that as "underwhelming".

(FWIW right now, I think the Mavs have the second-best chance of winning the West after the Spurs, and I wouldn't mind them actually winning the West this upcoming playoff season.)

You should read more and listen more and watch more.

Pre-season the consensus is that the Mavs are a low-seed at best, MIGHT be 4-5 seed. Regardless the typical "top 3" is SAS, GSW, LAC, and the 4 sometimes is POR (and OKC will somehow rise up and zoom to 4th apparently) Then when the season is already starting they're saying that the Mavs are "underwhelming" and playing "below expectations" as if they penciled them in as top 3 in the West during the pre-season.

If they build chemistry and no serious injuries happen, the Mavs MIGHT steal a top-3 seed.

Besides, the Mavs are always a dangerous team to face in the playoffs.

I think he's agreeing with you dude. He's saying the media is underestimating the Mavs, and saying they're "underwhelming" despite the fact that no one predicted them to be a contender prior to the season.

Rose seems to have tweaked a hamstring. He came out of the game for the last 2 minutes, but didn't go to the locker room and stayed off the bench. I hope he's okay.

Mavs just set team records for biggest win, biggest margin after in a qtr, and biggest margin in a half. The 53-pt win is also the biggest in the NBA since 2011.

LA Lakers were the defending champs, and it was the Big 3's first season together in Miami. The victim was the Cavaliers, a 51-pt win by Kobe and company.

Pelicans scored 80 points in the first half v. the Wolves, although they would have lost if they didn't score at all in the 2nd half.
The current "2nd best team in the West" meanwhile, easily handled the almighty, colossal giants of the East, the 76ers, winning by an astronomically astonishing, beyond measure margin of...1 pt.

So does Tom Thibodeau just hate Jimmy Butler and his bench or something? Why is Butler averaging 40 minutes per game? Has he not noticed the injuries his players keep taking? Give them a rest!

I think Thibs should be fired, or at the very least demoted to assistant coach.

Get somebody who was mentored by Gregg Popovich on board as head coach, someone who can manage minutes like he does.

Dirk Nowitzki has now eclipsed the 27,000 points mark. He is also only the fourth player to do so for just one team.

Thibs is also one of the best coaches in the league. The Bulls still made third seed last year with hardly any offensive options available.

I still feel like they could benefit from an experienced offensive assistant coach. And minutes management. I'm worried about the long term health of Bulls players.

The Mavericks set a new season-high, scoring 140 points against the hapless Lakers. Take note also that Dirk took less attempts than Kobe (22 attempts), but had more points, and did it with 10 minutes less of play time. But you say "Dirk isn't a guard!", so let's compare Kobe with Monta. Monta also took less attempts (both him and Dirk only took 10 FG attempts), but had more points, had 3 more assists, and played for around 3 minutes less than Kobe.

By and large none of the starters of the Mavs played more than 30 minutes, so they're well rested against the Rockets.
