I've played the game on three different systems, so I know what the scene is, but even that took me several seconds to realize what scene it is.

We can show this in a single frame, but it should be something obvious, like the boulder chases (especially the first), or the laser hallway, or "It" grabbing Leon.

I haven't played the game. It took me a second to realise that the screen that says push these buttons to dodge and has rocks over a character's head wants you to press these buttons not the get hit by rocks. It's pretty damn clear and I'm pretty sure that this one just won an IP crowner like a month back. We do not need yet another thread for it.

Well the color blending makes the rocks above his head hard to make out (and not just because it's the PS2 version). I'll at least see if there is a better quality screencap of a similar situation. Yes, I should have looked for one earlier. I'll fix that now.

I'm not having any issue making it out even at a glance. Go ahead and see if there is a better quality image, but there's nothing wrong with the current one.

The image quality makes it hard to tell the context without a long glance. Even you admitted you didn't get it right away.

At the very least, I'd like to see the source picture, and then see if I can touch it up to show this better.

EDIT: Found it. And the last post on that thread is June, not a month ago (you even made that last post). Six months is actually acceptable for new threads on these.

Okay, I cropped it, and tweaked the contrast to help the boulder stand out from the sky.

Still not particularly clear the rock is falling. (True, it's a giant rock so it doesn't exactly have much motion blur to it...)

What about RE 4's other Quick Time Events?

Best I could find was a couple shots of the boulder chase. I figured there would be a lot more shots of these, but they are surprisingly hard to find.

I think it's clear, the dust around that rock indicates that it's falling from its original position.

That said, the last IP has this and this. They're no better, though; if not worse.

A clearer version of that first one might be good.

^^ The dust is not clear enough. RE 4 is an Action / Survival Horror title; for all an unacquainted viewer knows it could be just normal fog or smoke.

I don't see how much it matters if the rock is falling or not. The image conveys that you're supposed to hit some buttons to dodge something.

[up] That. And that's something that no other image here does. The "Dodge" in the image is pretty helpful.

I can put it up, but I would like to see more input. If anyone else has a better suggestion, then we should at least consider that one. If that doesn't happen, then we can lock this.

I'd say so, unless this bump generates some discussion against it.
