The dieselpunk definitely is epic, but from this trailer and another preview, I fear that they're probably going to insert gratuitous sex and violence to give this an R-rating (which it is).

The official website is here. Watching the second trailer only makes me want to see it more.

Eh, I've seen sequels to the War of The Worlds before (Marvel Comics had a whole series (Killraven) with that as its basic premise.) Nothing I have seen yet makes me want to see it (but of course, it's too early to really tell.)

One good thing it might do, is remind people of the original novel's Victorian-age roots.

Sorry to bump this thread, but...

the film has actually been released. Here's a trailer with finished animation:

I saw this film on Netflix, and I thought that it was okay. The story and characters were typical, but the action was pretty good.

Here's the link the film on Netflix, if you have it: http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/70305952?trkid=202653

So....wasn't there a sex scene shown in the trailer? Was that cut out?

Oh hey, I remember this.

The writing was kind of eh and the quality of the fight scenes varied. But I loved how they animated the tripods moving about, and the Martians were a believable threat despite being outnumbered in every fight. While humans built clunky Mighty Glaciers with a dozen heavy weapons bolted on, the Martians built Lightning Bruisers that could run circles around the human-built tripods, armed with ray guns that could burn through our armor and shields that could withstand all but the biggest guns.
