So, a bunch of white survivalists did a raid on Cracked a few days back, and for some reason, they unilaterally chose the wavy capitalization of "geNOcide". Why is that? Like, because "genocide" is a word that needs cute wordplay to sound negative? Best I've got.

They're probably saying that there was no genocide, that is, the european holocaust didn't happen. Motherfuckers.

Please don't use the world "survivalist" in a negative manner, they were racists, being a survivalist does not make one a racist. I'd consider myself a survivalist.

They were referring to "white geNOcide", which here means mixed race as an inevitable result of immigration? Which only happens in mostly-white countries? Look, I don't know. But yeah, I'm guessing they're Holocaust deniers into the bargain.

[up]

Well, if it was in the context of "white geNOcide", then they're probably trying to say something like "say NO to white genocide"

Because immigration and the existance of non-white people along side white people clearly constitutes a genocide.

Seriously, though, what's with people like that? Can't they realise how stupid the things they're espousing are?

I'll tell you one thing: they didn't seem trusted to write their own arguments. It was aaaalll copy-pasted.

And now that I Google one of their pet memes - "naziwhowantstokillsixmillionjews" - it seems that a) they're still copy-pasting things from a '90s pundit/former bit Reagan staffer who only they seem to have heard of - the guy doesn't even have a wiki entry outside the Nazi sites - and b) yep, they do actually think that "geNOcide" is like "Nobama" in that if you didn't specify, it's not totally clear whether you're for or against. Charming people.

Do you consider yourself a white survivalist, though? That seems to be a descriptor with a quite different meaning.

What's precedent ever done for us?

I consider myself a survivalist in the fact that I'm a outdoorsy guy who goes camping and hiking a lot, and goes a good deal beyond the norm in terms of prepping for a possible disaster, which is the most widely accepted form of survivalist.

Any race or gender can be one of those, just call those guys racists. tongue

Well, besides the use of the word 'survivalist' I guess there isn't much left to discuss.

...Hm, I think I must have picked the term up from those early villains in Dies the Fire. Who are virulent racists, and who are also Montana bunker types and thus relatively well-prepared for the apocalypse that kicks off the book. So, yeah. Barkey's right and I'm wrong, my apologies.

[up][up][up]'White survivalist', though, seems to be a very specific term for those obsessed with defending the white race from its imminent extermination by evil brown people. Nothing to do with camping, and entirely appropriate terminology for the particular faction of racists involved here.

Not so much about personal survival, more about racial survival.

Sure, but I don't think the kind of people who join in copy-paste raids on popular websites that say something broadly bad about racism are spending a lot of time on their orienteering and forestry skills.

^^

I don't think they need their own specific term though, aside from perhaps neo-nazi.

Mostly just don't want to be associated with that type of garbage. Perhaps because of the negative connotations of the word(for several reasons) many are referring to themselves as "preppers" now.

Not much to say about the OP, but Doma, did you maybe mean "White Supremacists?" Never heard the term "white survivalists" before, but then, I don't do much reading on neonazis.

Yeah, I saw "White survivalists" and it confused the heck out of me for a moment. I thought that you were talking about a bunch of white guys going hardcore camping and was all "What do they have to do with anything?". [lol]

Eh, weren't all the racist militias guy who had a boom in Idaho and Montana in the 90s often called "survivalists", too? I think Iaculus means something like that.

Nah, I probably got "supremacist" cross-pollinated with a particular fictional group who were survivalists and white supremacists.
