The Triforce is supposed to be in the timeline. So, if part of it leave, like it would when Link left, a new Triforce of Courage would bud off of him before he goes. Does it need to be visible to happen?

In that case, it could just land on the ground and be picked up by Ganondorf or his minions.

I am going totally crazy in googling guys. I can't fund anything on the M/W thing yet.

What if we're looking at it backwards? Maybe we shouldn't ask why Link dying/failing made another timeline.

Maybe we should be asking why Link ever succeeded in Oo T at all.

The Legend of Zelda came first. The failure timeline was the one we were first exposed to. It is, for all intents and purposes, the "real" timeline. Maybe the entire series since Oo T has just been a huge "what if" regarding what if the Hero of Time had succeeded.

Or maybe someone in the failure timeline started mucking around with time. What if there was originally only one timeline, until someone got it in his head to try to prevent Ganon from ever rising to power in the first place? There's plenty of ways to pull it off, not the least of which being a wish on the Triforce...

I have heard the not-entirely-serious theory that us, the players, playing Ocarina of Time is what made Link succeed.

I think it works because the first game is the only one to have a war with Ganon NOT ending thanks to a Link. A failure of a past Link works pretty well and since Ocarina is apparently the Ur Zelda it makes sense.

Also, how many Links are there?

Let's see, I think there's LOZ/AOL Link, ALTTP/LA/OOA/OOS Link, OOT/MM Link, MC Link, FS/FSA Link, WW/PH Link, ST Link, TP Link, and SS Link. So 9?

Ocarina is the Ur Zelda? Like the first? Cause Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, and Four Swords are before it.

There's 10 Links. SS Link, MC Link, FS Link, OoT/MM Link, ALttP/Oracle/LA Link, LoZ/AoL Link, WW/PH Link, ST Link, TP Link, and FSA Link.

There's also 11 Zelda. One Zelda for each Link, plus another in the NES games since there was the current Zelda you save in the first game and a Zelda that was asleep for hundreds of years you save in the second.

"Ur" as in being a universal nexus. I'm going to keep talking about the M/W thing until Its recognized.

Something being the Ur [whatever] means it's the first, earliest, original.

It's a relative origin. It is the begging of the timelines. Like an Abraham. Z3, MM, WW. (HOLY FUCK MM WW OMFG!)

MM/WW probably was on purpose, but since we know about the timeline stuff, it's really not that hard to see the planning there. So relax. Yes, it exists, but a lot of people probably never noticed/cared to notice. Both of those apply to me. tongue

What does Majora's Mask and Wind Waker being MM and WW matter? It's not like it means anything, or is interesting in anyway, or is likely anything more than a coincidence. And it only matters for the English translation since the Japanese titles are different.

Yeah . . . compared to the plots involved, word play is small change. We already knew about the timeline shennanigans when Wind Waker came out, so this wasn't a giveaway.

Because Wind Waker is the chronological antithis to Majora's Mask. You could say they are mirror versions of each other. MM upside down is WW. And vice versa. And as we know, the Japaneese love wordplay.

Yeeeeah... But I really doubt they intentionally did that. And like I said, only the English titles work that way, not the Japanese titles.

Whoever picked the english title of WW did it on purpose then. Still makes it an awesome wordplay.

If they did it on purpose, wouldn't somebody from Nintendo have at least mentioned it, rather than hoping someone stumbles on it just to go "Oh, that was clever."

It was probably not on purpose, and even if it was, again, it's really nothing compared to the games themselves. The names fit the games, and that's that.

Well, they did use "Waker" even though that's not really an actual word...but that was probably just to make the name sound better, rather than trying specifically to have the acronym "WW".
