How about Roy as the parrot's name? If what I've heard is right it's an old French term for king, and given how full of himself said bird is it Cseems fitting. Speaking of that parrot I wonder how Check Up intreacts with it given that he hates critters, I see ripe oppertunitys for snark to snark combat here.

Oh yeah, it teases the hell out of Check Up...and Check Up makes sinister leg across throat gestures at it.

Edit: Wait...Check Up could have a pet...a fish. Something like an Oscar, or a Lionfish maybe?

Roy is a great name. Maybe like a goldfish or something for his pet. And then the goldfish has a pet rock.

So,

Big Rig has a Bull Dog (name required),

Pig Iron has a Cat (a Garfield lookalike, name required),

Chuckles has a Parrot (what type? African Grey maybe?) named Roy,

Check Up has some sort of big, impressive looking Fish,

and Moon (must get his name confirmed), has a Hawk maybe? Or a Bat?

I say a bat for Moonbeam(this name for Foil!Twilight gets my vote). Chuckle's parrot should be an African Grey since they are known for their intelligence. I also like to imagine that Check Up doesn't even take care of his fish, he hires somepony to do it for him.

Wait, I thought Check Up hated all animals? Maybe I missed something along the way?

I feel that he might only hate certain kinds.

A fish decorating his office might be acceptable.

Fair enough. Might be interesting if he had it before the attack or something.

idea...Make it a beta fish (however its spilled it sounds like beta to me) with a recurring gag of how him constantly ignoring it, or forgetting about it, neglecting it, or accidentally doing something that could hurt it, yet the fish never dies. (Betta fish are freaking TOUGH)

Eh... I don't know. IT seems like it might be nice to give him a single animal that he really does care about. Maybe even a lot, to the degree that it weirds ponies out to see him being so nice to it.

What about a potted plant that he treats just like other ponies treat there pets?

...A Japanese Peace Lily?

No, he has a bonsai tree.

And he gives it a girl's name...and gives it TLC like AJ does to Bloomberg.

The others are weirded out by this to no end.

Are these guys still being given symbolic Elements by Luna? Like Smokescreen get's duty etc.

Yeah they shouldn't get them straight away. Maybe as a reward for their service, Luna makes them Paragons of Virtue. To be an inspiration to others.

At this rate, you might as well call this thread the "pony foils" thread.

Anyway, here's my fanon timeline of Equestria and the pony race. tell me what you think. Beware: contains flutterponies.

• Flutterponies, fearing the outside world and it's many monsters, create the Windigos, artificial lifeforms made to eliminate all lifeforms that allow hatred to control them. When the whole "hearth's warming" incident occurs, they relise that even the most goody-goody lifeforms can let hatred control them, and promptly destroy the remaining Windigos. They note that magic can be strengthened by social connections and the resulting positive emotions. A few windigos are left forgotten in stasis.

• The core of magic is destroyed in a big battle between ponies and dragons. Thanfully, the flutterponies manage to stop magic from disappearing from the world by making it inherent, but the special abilities of all three pony races weaken as a result. As unicorns can no longer raise the sun, the flutterponies make the sunstone to do it for them. the dragons, being honourable, if greedy creatures, feel ashamed for almost removing magic from the world, and promise to never go to war again.

• Flutterponies make the first alicorn, who has the power to change the cutie mark, and hence the special talent of a pony. However, he becomes a little obsessed with control, and flutterponies start working on plans to seal him in case he goes too far. He uses the cutie pox as a punishment. Noting this, he finds a large chunk of the broken core of magic.

• Alas, he finds that he can't truely control the core of magic's power, it's far too chaotic. But he notes that the ponies like fairytales quite a bit. He takes advantage of this by creating a monster that will use the power of the core of magic to wreak havoc. He programmes it's mind to obey his orders, and to committ evil acts for no reason when not under his control, his plan being that when this all-powerfull being shows up and wrecking havoc, the world will beg for someone to save them- and when he commands the all-powerfull being to let him defeat it, the world will see him as the world's Big Good and let him rule over everything without question. This being is, of course, Discord. He programmes him to wake up in a year, and is sealed a few weeks later. He doesn't mind, sooner or later the flutterponies will free him in desperation just to beat Discord. Meanwhile, the flutterponies decide not to make more alicorns for a long time.

• Unluckily for him, the flutterponies find another way to beat him. When Discord discovered that the sunstone was stopping him from controlling the sun, he starts picking on them. The flutterponies decide to use mental warfare on him, and start giving nightmares... but he enjoys them. But then one clever flutterpony has a idea, and gives him a good dream showing him using his powers for good and being far happier as a result. His mind unable to handle the idea of being happier without evil, Discord freaks out and develops a straight-up phobia of flutterponies.

• Discord finds the darkest dangerous place he can find- a large valley- and uses a magic barrier to seal the flutterponies in there. He discovers too late that he's been conned into putting other types of ponies and lifeforms in there, but doesn't want to discord this valley directly least the flutterponies give him good dreams again. So instead, he creates monsters and sends them in to wreck stuff on a regular basis.

• What do the ponies call this Discord-free (kinda) valley, given to them by a good dream Discord had? Dream Valley, of course! The flutterponies make a less powerful core of magic to un-discord the place, and generation one ensues.

• Discord realises that while the sunstone overides his attempts to control the sun, he can cast a ilusion to make it look like he is. The flutterponies realise that while they can use the sunstone to dispell it, they would need a second source of magic to keep the sun moving while the sunstone keeps the ilusion away. instead of making a second sunstone, they instead create Celestia, figuring a alicorn will defend itself better than a inanimate stone. They also create Luna to light up the night and guard against monsters.

• The more monsterous species of Dream Valley, fed up with the ponies having all the nice, clean bits of the valley, finally get their shit together and start a huge fucking war. By the time it ends, Dream Valley is inhabitable and the flutterponies have been wiped out. Discord is so pleased by this, he doesn't even bother toddling into Dream Valley, figuring if they don't come into his realm, then they go nuts trying to survive in the wastland that is now Dream Valley. However, Celestia and Luna have the last notes the flutterponies left behind, and they're about to finish off their latest project: A discord-destroying superweapon...

• Celestia and Luna whoop Discord's ass, and ponykind moves back into Equestria.

• A group of monsters that survived the Dream Valley war manage to corrupt her with dark magic, using her feelings of inferiority as a catalyst. They manage to swap one of the elements with a fake infused with more dark magic. When Celestia ties to free Luna, the fake messes things up, sealing Luna in the moon and draining the elements. thanfully, this doesn't weaken the seal on Discord thanks to Magic A Is Magic A. In a rage, Celestia tracks down these monsters, turns them into stars and uses them in a thousand-year spell to free her sister. A thousand years later, a spark of friendship revives the elements, and G4 begins...

Don't really mind G1 and G4 being linked, long as that unholy abomination of saccharin mush of G3 stays out of it.

The only MLP I am really up to date on is Fi M so I cant realy be of help to your time line, sorry.

Interesting, but I feel some story events don't quite mesh together. I'm trying my hand at this too.

1. In the ruins of an old wasteland, several tribes of ponies colonize the land; powerful artifacts are used to restore the world and make it habitable.
2. An old evil king, Tirac, tries to reset the climate to his desire and enslave the ponies. They promptly blast him with the Rainbow of Light.
3. Surviving descendants of Tirac attempt to get revenge by unleashing the ancient bioweapon, Smooze, upon the ponies. It defeats the Rainbow of Light and wrecks Dream Valley. Flutterponies defeat the Smooze before it spreads too far. Heartstone destroyed by villain douchebaggery.
4. Ponies settle in Paradise Estate. They are eventually forced to leave after several disasters and attacks. At some point, they split into the three tribes.
5. Events as depicted in Hearth's Warming happen. Classical Equestria is founded. Spark of Synergy is used to keep Windigos at bay.
6. Discord conquers Equestria.
7. Six friends, including a pair of Unicorn Princess sisters from the old lineage of Platinum, use the Spark of Synergy in conjunction with the fractal distilling powers of the remnants of the old Rainbow of Light. This results in the Elements of Harmony being created.
8. Four of the six friends bravely distract Discord long enough for the Sisters to put him on the rocks, joining the Chaos God in being turned to stone. The two survivors are permanently changed by the battle, becoming alicorns. Discord leaves a tiny mark of influence on Luna.
9. The sisters proceed to take control of Equestria after Discord goes on the ice. They split the duties of the days and the nights.
10. 1000 years before the present, Luna loses her cool due to the combination of not getting enough love from her subjects, envy of her sister getting all the love, and that tiny gift from Discord. She gives in to her resentment and goes Nightmare Moon, and Celestia is unable to purify her. As a last resort, she seals Nightmare Moon away for a thousand years.
11. Present Day: events of FiM happen.
