Apparently dontcallmewave is very insistent on the Han Solo pic from Star Wars, claiming it is an example in-context, even though it looks like it is from the part where Han is shouting to try to scare the stormtroopers. I pointed that out myself while removing it (you can do a ctrl+f of hiddenf) but dontcallmewave put it back, insisting it is from the part where Han realizes he is outnumbered... even if it is, that is not apparent from the image itself.

That and it is of ridiculously poor quality. And the facial expression is kind of goofy too. (Looks more... sarcastic than genuinely frightened. One expects the former from Han more often than the latter.)

The one I replaced it with was of Harvey Dent's reaction when Rachel Dawes said 'only one of us was going to make it, and they were going to let our friends choose.' What dontcallmewave pointed out, that it sort of looks like he's crying, is worth taking into consideration, but I still don't think that makes the Han Solo pic better. Ideally, though, we should go for something better than either.

For my first suggestion, I present the following from Harry Potter: Chamber Of Secrets.

In-context, Harry, Ron, and the owl are reacting to seeing a train behind them. Out-of-context it could be interpreted as Harry and Ron reacting to the owl, but then again, it works as Oh, Crap! either way.

It just looks like a scary owl look and two hard to see guys talking in the background.

Hmm I want to say General Chang from Star Trek VI but that might be spoilers.

[up] That could work if it was just that shot of his face, as there's not enough other information there to give anything away.

Another that could work is the T-1000 right before the grenade blows up inside it.

The scene in Jurassic Park where Ellie (I think that's her name, the teenage girl) is eating dinner in the restaurant and sees a raptor sneaking up behind her brother

For now, can we at least agree to remove the Star Wars pic and leave this subpage imageless until we come up with a good enough alternative?

Motion to pull

Expression looks more like a generic yell than a true Oh, Crap! moment...good example, bad pic.

I support the pull too, though that should be pretty obvious...

Just a note from the (year-old) Oh, Crap! IP discussion: the trope is about the facial expression, a good page image doesn't necessarily depict what the character is reacting to. (Though "impending doom" is preferably obvious.) Standard JAFAAC-type considerations don't really apply, it's a face trope.

I think these three (from Oh Crap: Main, Animated Film, and Video Games) are especially good:

That should make it relatively easy to find a good replacement, then.

Any suggestions?

How about in Who Framed Roger Rabbit where Judge Doom's about to get hit with the Dip? IIRC he givs a great Oh, Crap! face.

We should probably hold a crowner with all image nominations.

Aside from the ST pic and the Harry Potter pic in the OP, what do we have? The other actual pics are guidelines and not suggestions.

I Wally don't see what's wrong with the star wars one that was originally on the page.

[up] I take it you mean "really" instead of "Wally." In any case, see the OP, the problems have been pointed out there. If you still disagree, you should address my points.

Though what bothers me more than you not seeing the problem with it is you reverting the edit of someone who claimed it wasn't an example, instead of taking it to the forums. Granted, I should have taken it to the forums myself, but at least having the impression it was a non-example was a better reason for removing it than it happening to be an example in-context was for putting it back up. It turned out it was an example, but that it could so easily be confused for a different moment that wasn't is still a point against the image. Remember, it being an example isn't enough; it's (at least typically) supposed to be evidently so as well.

Anyway, I'll look for further alternatives...

EDITED IN: Here are a few from some other Harry Potter movies:

The picture is very much an Oh crap in context, and I doubt anyone would say that it does not look Su5kemlike the trope. The fact that you changed the image twice without putting up an image picking thread to see the consensus makes me fully justified in changing the image back. I'd say a crowner is a reasonable idea

EDIT: to me, none of those look particularly oh crappy, especially not next to the star wars one. Like I said, a crowner may be the only reasonable option.

I like Ron's "uh oh", tho that image is very blue. I think an understated expression says "I'm doomed" way better than an exaggerated freaked out face.
