It haven,' seen many threds about sports games here, so.

Ever since the PSX and Dreamcast, sports games have been trying to become as close to real sports as possible. To me, it's one of thew things that made them more boring. Guess I have gotten used to the more arcadey types. NBA 2K could use a little in-game music, like Tecmo NBA Basketball for the NES, SNES, & Genesis.

One of the reasons older gamers liked Tecmo Bowl was become they consider in much more lively, fast-paced, and easier than Madden NFL.

But, I'm not going to rant any further.

Now, tell me, which was the better Hockey Title for the NES to you? Nintendo's Ice Hockey or Konami's Blades of Steel... or something else?

Yep, I'm still here.

The Nintendo game where the Hockey player would fight mortal kombat style if the checked each other and the loser got taken to the penalty box.

And yes, outside of management simulations, making most sports games more realistic has made them less enjoyable, the only possible exception to me are driving games and that's only because people are still making Burn Out, Need For Speed and Mario Kart in addition to "realistic" racers. But what about football games where you could legally beat down the goalie and then take free shots at an open net? What about the other kind of football where you could shoot the referee at the cost of ten yards?

This is nerd central so with the possible exception of racing games, ancient retro games, Wii Sports, and crazy arcade games like NBA Jam everybody here hates them... including me...

Y'all know Mutant League Football? God help me it's the only reason I know the rules to football. Anyway, it was a Genesis game that involved mutants and robots dismembering each other, good times. Recommended if you have an emulator handy, it's been a while but I bet it's aged fairly well.

I actually prefer the more realistic games... well, only FIFA and NHL and sometimes Madden, because I love those sports.

Realistic racing games are nice because there's no way you'd ever drive those vehicles in real life.

Does Blood Bowl count as a sports game?

Fake sport but why shouldn't it count? As for realistic sports games, I don't have much against them except that there is no real alternative. I enjoy Madden when I play it, I like World Cup games and Olympic games, but as said realistic racing games still have their goofier alternatives. Smackdown Vs Raw has WWE Allstars if for some reason, you don't want your matches to look just like a WWE tv show. Modern Warfare—Duke Nukem, Dementium. Most sports games don't have that anymore, they just feature different teams and tweaked controls.
