[up][up] One person with telescopic night vision?

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.

Need telescopic night vision to see two dudes with lightsabers fighting? Or one shooting very noticeable lightning out of his fingers?

Never mind the fact that Coruscant is an ecumenopolis, with undoubtedly plenty of lights on at night.

I know I wouldn't need telescopic night vision to see a fight in the middle of a high profile city if the involved combatants were using highly visible and not easily missed blades of plasma.

Yes, lightsabers and lightning bolts would certainly stand out in a big city skyline at night. It's not like there would be thousands of other lights to distract from those, no siree...

Well immediately afterward Palpatine implemented Order 66 and after that held the Senate meeting to declare the rise of the Empire. It all happened so quickly, Palpatine was a beloved wartime Chancellor and Coruscant itself was still recovering from attack that no one was able to or wanted to challenge his claim. The Delegation of 2,000 were seemingly the only ones skeptical of the whole situation.

[up][up]Really? Blades of plasma and lightning shooting out of a building would not be noticeable enough?

If anything, attention would be directed to the fight, rather than away from it. Ya know, when people notice the Chancellor's window being blown out?

I mean, I'll stretch and say sure, miraculously, nobody noticed Windu fly out the window (with a population of over 1 trillion, you'd have to start thinking about population density at this point).

But c'mon? Lightning? Really? That's not noticeable enough? Or the very obvious blades of plasma? They're moving (erratic) lights, they would be unlike the generic, static lights of the surrounding buildings.

Yeah, the licensed book mentions that there's a security recording that recorded the initial conversation but Palpatine then destroys it with his lightsaber before the duel really gets going.

Palpatine editing footage/audio is something I definitely accept and understand though.

It's just the other things that are kind of bizarre to explain away.

Heck, you have some people to this day claim Windu could somehow be alive (even if it makes no sense).

I have a hard time believing that a little thing like a lightning bolt, a severed hand, an a 200-story fall could kill Samuel L. Jackson.

Darth Maul got bisected in half and he turned out to be okay, if not better, once he got treated by the Nightsisters.

So Mace Windu could certainly survive if Lucasfilm wanted to do that.

I wouldn't complain. It might be silly, but I'd welcome Windu coming back out of nowhere.

Maul coming back from being chopped in half and sent down a massive great chute in the ground is one of the stupidest most ridiculous things in all of Star Wars, albeit the show it happened in did manage to salvage him... by killing of the character who was basically a not dead Maul anyway.

Plus, Mace's story is done. Him coming back would be an instant plot tumour right off the bat.

Mace never really had a story to begin with, which was my biggest beef with the character. He never evolved beyond an underwritten stock character. His only real characteristics were having a purple lightsaber and being Samuel L. Jackson.

I'd be open to the possibility of him being brought back (probably in some sort of EU installment, not a core movie), just to see if they could actually give him something to do.

[up] I rest my case. Who are we to argue with The Man Himself?

[up][up][up]Lol, Maul coming back is ludicrous in and of itself.

Might as well throw Windu in there as well.

Windu's story and character is just that he's a hardass, no-nonsense, skullcracking Jedi who doesn't take any shit and is willing to do anything to protect the Jedi Order. He represents the decaying, traditionalist side of the Order, dogmatic as it gets, and his grim and cold nature enhances that fact. Which is not to mean he's a bad guy, he's just the more Anti-Hero Jedi contrasted with Obi-Wan's more easygoing nature and Yoda's quirky eccentricity.

Windu's main thing is being a fierce, somewhat antisocial (in the sense his grim nature means he never get to have any light-hearted interaction with anyone) take-no-prisoners warrior unflinching in his cause to a dangerous extent.

The Order in the prequels basically has all these characters representing its nature, ranging from the hard unorthodox (Qui-Gon Jinn), to the soft unorthodox (Obi-Wan), to the soft traditionalist (Yoda) to the hard traditionalist (Windu) with Anakin stuck in the middle and breaking apart under their pressure.

There is a recent SW theory claiming Windu not only alive, but is also Snoke. It's as outlandish and bizarre as it gets.

I honestly love how the Star Wars fandom comes up with absolutely bizaree and outlandish theories that are so out of left field. I mean, it's one thing to think that Snoke is Darth Plagueis, but it's another to think that he's Mace Windu.

Like, what the fuck? [lol][lol]

We should all be focused on sensible theories - like that Rey is not a Skywalker, but in fact a Binks.note

I actually was listening to a podcast last night where one of the guys guessed that Supreme Leader Snoke is actually Mace Windu XD

Windu being Snoke is....not what I expected to hear as a theroy.

Nope. Jar Jar is Plagueis, and Rey is his long-lost daughter.

I'm convinced half of these "theories" are just being made by people who are just now entering the Star Wars fandom.

People are eager to be the first ones to successfully connect the dots, no matter how tenuous the evidence. And of all the theories out there, one or two are probably on point. If you throw enough darts at a dart board, eventually one of them's going to hit.

I see nothing wrong with these theories as outlandish and absurd as they are. They are works of love about the franchise, and some of them provide actually interesting observations that while probably false, are fascinating in a "What if....?" sense. Like Rey being Palpatine's grandkid, which is laughable as a serious theory, but if it were true it has some fun storyline implications that are nice to imagine.
