In Dn D 4th Ed. they have Astral Diamonds, equal to 10,000 gp.

Hmmm I worry more in that the difference from one coin to the other is just 3 units.

I think I would be more comfortable in this high stakes setting with a model more like the one in D&D.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

I did like the names of some of the currency though. Perhaps we should go by ones, tens, hundreds and thousands?

ON TOPIC: Perhaps we could also bump up the worth of a mark?

We could also deflate the currency, so one mark is worth like $100 dollars today. And just have a menagerie of smaller denominations (half/quart/third-hext/trims, pennies etc).

Also if we're going medieval, no need for decimalisation. Are there any magic numbers in Hercine?

I would post in the RP but I'm off to a family party so your not likely to get anything from my until tomorrow.

Anyone have a significant way to piss off the entire thieves guild that doesn't involve murder?

I have a few, but I was interested in seeing if anyone had any good ones.

Mass Thievery from everyone in the guild at a meeting, and then the thief shouting, "You guys suck." That would be abridged of the real thing said, but it would work.

As if an association of thieves would ever gather in large numbers in any one place and time.

Um, maybe I'm wrong, but going by the first post of the sign up it's not even really a guild. I can't really see a group of thieves having group meetings, although the mental image is mildly amusing. I'd imagined it more as a "these bars are safe, this business is run by an associate and is a good source of lockpicking equipment, smoke bombs, etc., you can sell stolen goods to these merchants" sort of deal.

Of course, I could be wrong, in which case let's say they do have meetings. Then I can see most of them being either competent enough to notice that they're being robbed or smart enough not to bring anything worth stealing to a meeting of a large group of thieves.

evilneko has a point. Though in terms of Lakan's request, it doesn't really matter if they actually agree or decide to hire someone to hunt him. The point is that he gets their attention first.

But yes, ideas for what he's done would be appreciated, though if no one can think of anything I guess I can.

I would say that only a massive threat to the underworld as a whole would justify any kind of large get together. I figure there's a small council (anywhere from half a dozen to about twenty) who don't so much run things in the sense of dishing out orders as coordinate things like what the acceptable rates for fences to charge making sure gang territories don't overlap, negotiate disagreement, regulate payoffs to the guard etc.

Seems reasonable enough, but I'm not entirely sure if stealing from that group simultaneously would justify hatred.

Umm, evilneko, why are you still roleplaying the guardsmen?

Are they your player characters?

I mean, they're nameless and all...

I don't think the guards think they're insignificant.

The scene the guardsman was in is still happening, so why wouldn't she continue playing him?

I personally, would find it slightly odd if he simply vanished. Although I doubt he'll appear much, if at all after this.

So, did Chandri run into the girls? Just wondering, since he says he did, but before then it just says he almost did.
