Inspired by Sonic Generations, I came up with the idea of a game modelled after the Super Smash Bros. series. There would be 4-6 versions of the game, each based around a particular series. Each version would play differently from each other; for instance, Sonic's version would play differently from Mario's version. No matter which version of the game you play, there would be the same mix of stages to play through (composed of stages from Nintendo and third-party game represented and not represented). Either the different versions could be different genres (Yoshi and Kirby as sidescrollers, and Sonic and Mario as 3D games), or every mode would be a sidescroller (ideal if the developers want to keep a modest budget).
Some series I was thinking of for this idea were Yoshi (based on Yoshi's Island), Kirby (based on the sidescrollers), Starfox (same gameplay as the flying games), Mario (either based on the 3D games or the sidescrollers), and Sonic (either based on the sidescrollers or the recent 3D games, like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations).
