It's not a slasher.
Despite the presence of a slasher late in the film.
This looks pretty good I unfortunately spoiled myself on the plot nad ending (the script can be found online through IMDB I didn't read it but people revealed on there and other places)
Frankly I like the idea that these kids were intentionally bought to the cabin just so they could die for *SPOILER*.
Yeah but I hope this works out well for Whedon and Goddard plus Chris Hemsworth is always a plus (even if he did this before Thor)

I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.Oh did the script leak or something?
Yeah pretty much.
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.Y'know, the bit about them intentionally being brought to the cabin so they could die is likely still a spoiler.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The trailer seemed to imply it but I'll spoiler it out anyway
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can. This screened recently, got some rave reviews, and someone called it "the anti-Scream".
Hey, it's the dude who played Topher on Dollhouse.
Looks good. I probably would have groaned in the theatre until I saw the force field.
The page for this was made, I added an image and a couple of tropes. Please help if you can before the film comes out next month.
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.Did you just put it on the main? Shame on you.
Edit: moved to Film Name Space, wicks changed. Also, you need to crowsswick the tropes.

Fight smart, not fair.No someone else made the page I just added the tropes, tagline and the image.
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.Tough, I've already broken out the ropes and trees, it's LYNCHING TIME!
Fight smart, not fair.Being a spoiler hound, can I find the script for this someplace? linky would be nice.
I'd check the IMDB forums for anyone who can send the script or try searching mediafire, I found a copy of the script (Which I haven't read) there.
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.May I just say that I really hate the page quote? When I read the above article where Joss Whedon said that, to me it was him showing his ignorance; even at the time the movie was in production, the genre was moving away from "torture porn"(I loathe that phrase). We're almost five years removed from the wealth of torture horror films. And frankly, there's a huge wealth of horror material built on sadistic comeuppances: the EC Comics, some slasher films, etc,...
Agreed but I understand his intentions. Besides knowing what happens at the end of the film makes up for it all.
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can. This movie was pretty good. Maybe not all it could have been, though. Lots of Lampshade Hanging on...everything.
...wait, it's out?
Avatar from http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/7486.htmlT'was an early screening.
Ahh, okay.
Avatar from http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/7486.htmlI saw an early screening of this and thought it was really good. I can recommend it without hesitation.
I have a podcast! I think that you should listen to it.Seeing this on Saturday.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.I gotta say, I'm sure the stoner character will become some sort of cult icon. If he doesn't, I'll be very sad. People constantly cheered him on during all of his screen-time.

So a new slasher movie coming out seems like it's gonna follow all those "college kids going to a cabin in the woods" conventions we all know. Except Joss Whedon was writing for this and it already seems to be subverting tropes in the trailer. I'm excited for this.
