I loved the fights on Smile, even when I was left without a possitive impression on everything else (Before I started to change my mind, mind you) I LOVED the fights. That was one thing that it did do right. Doki Doki never had any of the intense fighting found on Smile. It seemed like it was going to but it never delivered.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I don't want to get in a mudslinging competition on who is worse. Suffice to say I think Miyuki and Mana are the worst in different ways, but Mana represented some ambition which they tried to do interesting things with.
Smile was an oddball with fights. The standard fights were pretty meh most of the time. Really basic punches and flying kicks with the bad guys shooting something, and then the good guys shot and won. The comedic nature excused some fights, but not all. But when they were good, they were good. I still hold the second Beauty v Joker fight as the best in the series.
I just found one of my most fave fights on Youtube!!!!
Twinkle Swag. Tough mom to deal with. Very tough. I like how Kirara got her epiphany before the fight started. Avoided the mid-fight despair. Next episode is where things get interesting.
Time to finally meet sensei. The Princess of Flowers is simple, though I suppose that's to be expected of a children's book. Not sure what's so inspiring about it, but whatever. It was totally about that bird, not the princess though. Not sure an ambiguous ending fits this, but her choice. Twilight finally justifies her villain status. Puts those lowly peasants in their places. She really is the only princess in the cast. Though I guess you could argue that Minami is as close to being a princess as one can be in modern Japan. Her pity line and overall speech gave her a bit of actual depth. Good for her. New attack was meh. The old one hadn't gotten boring yet. Don't see the importance of the author becoming the principal.
Cure Flora now has the power of bara and yuri.
Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here. The revelation that the author is the principal of the school, too, is quite interesting, because it points to the main statement of the show, in my opinion: The author realized that the princess is an ideal that is different for every girl. So, individualism is a virtue here. And to quote the entry about the Absurdly Powerful Student Council for this show "Noble Academy encourages students to be independent and be able to solve their own problems in a civilized manner."
Also, Princess Twiligh represents what a princess is NOT in this show! They use that term here similar how that titles in Shonen stories like "Pirate King", "Hokage" etc.. It's an ideal, that should be based on your own investmensts in the future and not on traditions from the past.
EDIT:
What exactly should I think, when the second power up of the main heroine, who seems to have a Les Yay moment with almost EVERY female character she meets, is related to something, that symbolizes girl-on-girl-relationships...

Pfft.
EDIT: Okay, watched it. Why do I get the feeling that Twilight is really some random human girl Dyspear decided to abduct and turn into her pawn?

Because it would be the ultimate humiliation and would justify that heart-warming scene where Haruka will tell Twilight, that she is still a princess, because, do you remember that time, when you kicked our behinds, that was awesome!
(Rethorical Questions? What is that?)
Episode finished not even an hour ago and Twilight found a Princess Perfume at the end and it appears that she'll become Cure Scarlet next week based on the preview.
I don't think it'll be that quick for Twilight to become Cure Scarlet, she'll have fun using it for evil in a bit before some whammy stuffs happen in the future. THEN she'll turn. Unless Toei is fucking with us again like back then with Aguri.
Except in the preview for next episode she appears to be dying much like Setsuna did before becoming Cure Passion. She will probably become a Cure at the end of next episode but not join the team until episode 21 or 22.

Kanata has a sister that plays the violin. Gee, I wonder where this is going to go. Treasure. Character development summary. So Twilight was brainwashed/memory-wiped. There goes my care for her. That is one lousy treasure. At least give out a sticker or something. There's Twilight's thing. Can she stay evil for at least a few more episodes? Scarlet won't appear next episode. They would've shown her directly if she was appearing.
Agreed. Spoiler Titles are kind of Toei's thing. Rather, it's par for the course for any Japanese show targeted at kids.

Can I say, thank god they finally addressed the whole "you can't ACTUALLY be a princess if you're not born one" thing? And Haruka's reaction was great, too. That was something that had been bugging me the entire series, and they finally explained it!
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Sad but expected that Twilight was Towa. Especially since she was being set up as Regina 2.0. since day one. At least for now she's become the Abarekiller of Precure, Cure killer.
I was half right. She didn't become Cure Scarlet but she did become a Dark Precure along the lines of...Dark Precure.
Regina 2.0 is a bad thing.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.555. To the magic kingdom that I don't care about at all. Yui gets to panic. Lore and previous Precure that's incredibly basic. The big meeting with the prince who I don't care about. Fight with the evil scrubs. Guess they're not going to wait on the Twilight identity reveal. Time to fight with Proto-Scarlet.
Meh. When it was mentioned some time that Kanata had a little sister, I immediately knew she had to be Twilight. These kinds of shows never just happen to mention someone in passing for no reason.
I don't know if her name was mentioned before, but when he said her name was Towa this episode, her identity was practically confirmed - Twilight in katakana is Towairaito.

Does anyone have an explanation that there's no Precure this week?
Apparently, golf.
I picked up the Towa/Twilight connection almost immediately. I'm getting better at working out these puns! :)

The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!I don't think it's possible for anyone to be surprised by that twist. Or the fourth Cure's identity. Though Aguri was a surprise I suppose. I think they made her a complete surprise so that they could try and have some suspense as to who the next Cure is.
Dammit. CURSE YOU AND YOUR CLIFFHANGER TOEI!
On an unrelated note, one thing I want to mention are the names. There seems to be some kind of theme going on with some of them.
- Haruka written as 遥か means "far".
- Kanata written as 彼方 means "beyond", or "other side". It carries a implication of something being far off.
- Towa is an alternate pronunciation (possibly poetic/literary) of Eikyuu (永久), which means "eternity".
That's about it, I think.

How can you think Miyuki is the worst leader when Mana is a thing that exist?
