I think so too, but hey.
Fight smart, not fair. No, that was never the case. Images are always open for replacement if a better suggestion is found, so Keep Until Better Image Suggested means the same as Keep. When you pull an image, you're saying it's worse than not having an image at all; that's how it's been as long as I've been around here, anyway.
"Kubis" is functionally identical to "Keep". It's just there to help you feel better about saying it. It's the Not Proven of Image Pickin'.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Maybe we have been (obliviously) interpreting "keep" differently? For me when someone says "keep" I assumed that it's defending the image and (usually) refuting the JAFAAC claim; unless stated otherwise. *
Anyway, even if we didn't have that distinction IMO we should make it since there are quite a lot of threads open and some complaints are more nitpicky than others. I think, anyway.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. If you think it's truly JAFAAC, you should vote to pull it. JAFAAC means it has zero visual elements that show the trope, and by our standards, a JAFAAC image is considered worse than no image. So yes, by voting to keep, you're representing that you believe it is not Just A Face And A Caption. It doesn't mean you like it, or that you think it's the best image for the page, or that you prefer it over other suggestions, or that you endorse it as a high-quality image—it means you think it meets a minimum level of adequacy. Or in other words, the same thing you mean when you say "Kubis."
Rhymes with "Protracted."For me, "keep" has always meant that I'm solidly in favor of the current pic...pre-Keep Until Better Image Suggested, if I have reservations about it, I'd say so.
This, basically. I've always viewed "Keep" as "the current image is fine". I look at Keep Until Better Image Suggested as "the picture has some issues, but it's not bad enough to warrant pulling without getting a replacement first".

Reaction Image RepositoryThat misconception would explain a lot of pull votes.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Bump...do we need to do anything else with this?
I don't see anything that need to be done here.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Probably there is one: KOOBIS still get transformed to Keep Until Better Is Suggested, not "Keep until (a) better image is suggested."
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Testing...I'll ping Eddie and ask for the change.

I agree. "Keep" and "Keep Until Better Image Suggested" may both lead to the same end result but they cast different impressions to other editors — namely, that Keep ambiguously implies "I support the current image" while Keep Until Better Image Suggested does not. It is a useful distinction to have.

The way I've always seen the distinction is:
