JCVD for something absurd or tragically funny, Sansho the Bailiff if you're looking for something solely tragic. Other good contenders on the funny scale are Waking Ned Divine, His Girl Friday, Gold Diggers of 1933, and Gosford Park. Of course, I could keep recommending films. Early Summer's great, as is Affliction, especially the latter if you're in the mood for something depressing. I'm a bit surprised no one has recommended Phantom of the Paradise yet. If you're in the mood for weird, it definitely qualifies.
