they're not TOTALLY useless now. I successfully forced an atlas to overheat, letting me escape :P

Man, I have half Medium Lasers and half Small Pulse Lasers on my 1X and it still gets rather hot quickly.

I have a CPLT-C4 with two LRM-15's, two Streaks and two medium lasers. I threw in the SSRM's and medium lasers because I didn't want to get caught with my pants down if someone attacked me within the minimum range of the LRM's, but at the same time, I can't shake this feeling that with the extra tonnage and space taken up by the SSRM's, I'm taking away from my long-range capability.

Though the torso twist speed and lack of arm mobility on a blackjack is problematic up close...

^^Honestly, I run dual LRM-15s on my Founder's Cat, so retaining some Streaks isn't a problem.

No idea, I've never played the game before.
I am interested in getting involved though, I just don't know if it's worth joining at this point (or if there's a means of getting a decent head start via extra goodies for new accounts).
