given our definiton of tropes, from what I read of half the article, it's could be said to be about character tropes.
but calling it a copycat? thats silly, every troper should know that there is nothing new under the sun, just tropes used in different ways or dressed up differently (like a space cowboy is just a cowboy trope with a different cosmetics)
as of the 2nd of Nov. has 6 weeks for a broken collar bone to heal and types 1 handed and slowlyWell, I'm not absolutely CONVINCED that it's copying TV Tropes. Nor am I say that we should get up in arms!!! and storm to PBS!! But I don't think it's inconceivable that PBS may have been inspired by TV Tropes, at least in part. It wouldn't be the first time mainstream media has copied something from the Internet whilst pretending they are too good to ever deign to do so.
<insert Princess bride joke here>
Tvtropes is not exactly something new either. If anything tropes is merely a congregation point for this type of information.
Who watches the watchmen?PBS is run by old men, I sincerely doubt any of them even know what a .org extension would be to type our address into an address bar.
Also we did not invent the trope, blah blah blah.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineI would only call it copying if they use trope names that aren't Tropes Of Legend or general description names. Now if they were to use trope names that only tropers should understand, I'd call copying on them.

Have you guys heard about it? I don't usually post here but I saw this on NPR's wall and I *immediately* thought of TV Tropes. It sounds very much like a tv show organized around a similar premise as TV Tropes—dare i say it—might even be a bit of a copycat.
Thoughts?
