Very low quality image: Group Hug

Whatever the Winnie the Pooh characters are doing there, it certainly doesn't look like a hug.

I can't really tell that for the Avatar picture either, but that's probably just me overthinking things.

I too find the Winnie the Pooh image less clear. Oddly, because it's a "stage group hug" presented to the camera it seems a tad less clear to me.

And yeah, all three images have had a lead at some point. Round and round it goes, where it stops...

I still think they're all OBVIOUS hugs...it's just whatever everyone prefers...but it's very clear they're all hugs, I think people are just being nitpicky.

Avatar and MLP are more obvious than the Pooh pic to me.

I don't see how Pooh is not obvious?

You see Tigger's arms around Pooh and Piglett, and you see Piglett and Pooh hugging Eyore.

BUT you don't see Eeyore hugging anyone. Therein lies ambiguity.

Similarly, you can't really see anyone's arms in the Avatar pic, except Toph's and Aang's right arm.

No...there doesn't...read the trope description...sometimes there will be that ONE who is reluctant or doesn't want to hug back, eventually warming up the idea, hence why I felt WTP was the best out of the lot.

Well, "sometimes" implies occasional variety. It's better to portray a conventional use of the trope.

But it's nitpicking—I still prefer Matt's suggestion of tiebreaking at #23.

I don't know, but the fact that MLP fans are saying the other pics aren't clear enough seems like Fan Myopia to me.

All three images are great, but my favorite is the Pooh one, since their expressions are pretty sweet (the MLP one has exaggerated expressions, and the Avatar one is good but not as good as Pooh's).

The Pooh one is the only one I downvoted. I just don't like the art style all that much.

My favorite is definitely the Avatar one.

That's odd, I'm an MLP fan and I not only say that both the MLP pic and the Avatar one are clear, but that the Avatar one is better. My complaint is primarily with the Winnie one.

I do think there is some Fan Myopia going on here with some of us...we all prefer what we prefer, but I still say they're ALL good images and examples, even if I have a preference...we should probably put a clock on this, maybe that will help.

So far more users posting in this thread seem to agree than disagree with the idea that the Pooh one is not as obvious as the others. Perhaps more of those voting for it in the crowner can address this?

Upvoted the Winnie the Pooh one, because it had the extra element mentioned in post n°32.

Downvoted the Little Pony pic, because its colors hurt my eyes and I dislike the art (and lack the advantage the Winnie the Pooh pic has).

Downvoted the Avatar pic, to give advantage to the Winnie the Pooh one (I like that one, but the Pooh one has the edge for the reason I mentioned above).

That said, all three would be good for main page.

No I don't think we need something in the crowner that should address any issues one image might have over the other. NONE of the images have issues, they all fit the trope perfectly, the fact people say one image doesn't IS fan myopia.

They're all very clearly group hugs, people disputing otherwise is JUST SILLY because they want whatever image they favor to win.

ALL IMAGES are good, period.

The only thing I propose that would help, is a clock.

What Matt is saying is that maybe, the people who voted for the Pooh picture could say why they did.

And yes, a clock would be helpful, since otherwise this could go for a long time if we wait for one picture to have a big lead.

Clock is ticking.

I lean Avatar > MLP > Pooh, mainly because the Pooh pic just looks like a piece of cute artwork, whereas (and I'm guessing since I don't watch either show) the other two are actual stills from episodes, and the Avatar pic looks like a genuine tender moment as opposed to the MLP pic which looks like a standard happy scene.

I don't think it should matter whether if it's something from the actual show...official artwork, or even fanwork...all that matters is if the picture demonstrates to trope.

To nitpick about that now...well...seems silly, all that should matter is if the picture fits the trope, not where it comes from.

Same. I think any of the pictures would work; it's just a question of aesthetics at this point.

Exactly all these excuses people are making for "this picture is better" and "this picture is better"...I kinda find a bit silly, as if that automatically needs to be the defining factor for the image of their choice to win.

We have 3 great choices...all great, no matter what we all think.

I may have a personal preference over WTP over the others, however I'm not going to make some silly nitpicky argument over ATLA or MLP as if they were inferior choices...because they aren't.

They're ALL good choices period.

It's just a personal bias that will decide in the end. Because we're all biased on each of these images. But they're still all good images. And whatever doesn't win I still say should go in an imagelinks page because really these images are TOO good to ignore.

As if your own opinion wasn't influenced by fan myopia?

The reasons for or against particular pics should be judged on their own merits, not for the fan myopia you perceive as being involved.

Actually, given the crowner's support for the WTP one compared to the criticisms of it among users in the thread, I can't help but wonder if sockpuppet use may be involved in the crowner. Perhaps the mods could do a voter IP address check if that's possible?

There always are socks involved to some degree, that's inevitable. That said, I also agree that all the pics are perfectly fine and that the ones that end up not being used should go to Image Links.
