Stupid. That had been stupid. She chided herself. She had one gun at them and they had two at her. She could cap at most one if them before the other retaliated. At point blank, that wasn't gonna be pretty. If only she had another thirty feet on them, maybe...

Rustling through her pants' pockets, she withdrew a tinfoil square, about the size of your palm. She held it up so everyone could see the letters printed on it plain as day. MRE. Meals Ready to Eat. With a light flick of the wrist, she tossed it halfway between her and scalps. She had no idea if this would work or not, but she had to try. At this point, leaving the EMT was the last thing she intended to do.

Officer worker. The man was emphasizing those words heavilly as he clearly was panicking at having a gun drawn on him. Seiko was pretty competent in her understanding of the English language but she needed a little time to process the term in her mind. After mulling over it - still with the shotgun levelled at him - she came to the conclusion that he was a salaryman. Someone who worked in an office all day, and therefore wasn't likely good with the gun he was packing. That didn't mean he wasn't a threat, though: in the lawless chaos Portland had become an unifected woman could be a prize to sex-starved men. She wasn't about to let herself become some man's prize.

"We going.. NOW," she insisted, stepping around and then back towards the street entrance to the convenience store, all while facing the man. Her gun was levelled at his stomach now, rather than his throat.

She worried still that zombies might be at the Walmart, which was visible down the street from this store's front window. Daring to take a glance out that window, she spotted some cars in the parking lot. One was an ambulance rather than a car.. and were those people she saw in the distance? That made her job more difficult. It was really the only choice, though, with Mr. Salaryman there. Seiko's head snapped back towards Arnold when she thought she heard something. The girl dropped to a crouch, motioning for the American to do the same.

"Something here," she announced, stressing the 'something'.

Scalps smirked: She wasn't hungry enough to fall for that, not after gorging on all sorts of junk food back at the mall.

"What's wrong with you? We didn't do anythin' against ya!", she said, indignant. "Name's Tyra. We're bikers, Black Army, from Tacoma.", she explained.

"We came to Portland for the revolution. Portland police killed a comrade. Soon as fighting broke out, we came here to kill a whole lotta cops." "We fuckin' won... When them pigs were kicked out, we got'em. Scalps are theirs'.", she said. "Ain't got no beef with y'all: Why the fuck would we harm ya?", she asked.

A raised eyebrow indicated her distrust, but a lowered gun signaled her acceptance. Keeping her finger on the trigger, the woman leaned forward to pick up the food, shoving the now cracked dried foodstuffs back into her pocket.

She turned to the EMT, looking at him then to the bikers, raising her shoulders in a "Iunno" pose.

Arnold crouched alongside the Japanese girl and drew out his gun. Now that she was no longer pointing hers at him, he turned to her and spoke.

"I know this isn't the best time, but I'm Arnold. I just escaped an office building full of those things, and now I'm heading to Walmart, just like you."

BANG! A round from professor Garcia's hunting rifle pierced a zombie's forehead, and it went down. Garcia had no time to pat himself on the back for his accuracy though, as more immediately began pouring into the classroom. He loosed another shot, taking down another zombie, but the odds weren't with him. He knew that if he stayed here, he'd be overrun before long, so he smashed a window open with the butt of his rifle, climbing through it. Outside there were fewer zombies, but Garcia knew he couldn't stay in one place for too long. His best bet would be to join up with a group of fellow survivors and get the hell out of Portland entirely. The young professor ran to the northern gate, leaving the campus.

Seiko held a finger up to her lips to indicate this wasn't the time to be talking. From all she'd seen these monsters could hear well enough, so making too much noise would attract a large group of them. Or at least however many were in the area. Once things were quiet she did some quick analysis of what their situation in the store might be.

If there was something coming from the back of the store, there was a chance that it was one of those things. From what she heard there couldn't be more than maybe one. It could also just be a stray animal or something. Seiko knew she had limited rounds for her weapon so a standup fight wasn't a good idea - anytime she could conserve her shells, he would. With the Walmart so close, she reasoned that it might be best to just get the hell out of the cramped convenience store and head there. At least she'd have more room to maneuver outside.

"Hashire... run," she concluded, looking over at Arnold with steely determination, "One... two.... three!"

With 'three', she backed up to the front door and pushed it open with her foot just enough to step outside. Seeing no immediate threats she stood up, nodded to Arnold, and then began to sprint towards the Walmart. Seiko had to dodge around debris every now and then but she wasn't going to stick around and find out what was coming for her in the store. Whether Arnold followed her or not was his own choice. As she drew closer to the store she could make out a little more detail of the people in front of the Walmart. By the way they were standing, they were definitely alive - zombies didn't hold guns.

Arnold was now standing behind the Japanese girl, having followed her. He was completely out of breath, having spent most of his time sitting in front of a computer, exercise wasn't one of the main aspects of his life. He too managed to make out that there were people alive at the Walmart, just as he expected. Still holding his gun, he signalled to Seiko.

"C'mon, let's go to those people. People. GO."

Arnold continued with his useless hand gestures in communicating with Seiko.

There weren't many zombies on the road outside the campus. In fact, it was rather empty: Most of the zeds had went chasing prey elsewhere. Only the trapped, the lost, the crippled and the stupid zeds remained. Still, the road was lonely and quite dangerous: There was no telling when a group of zombies would wander in the vincinity.

Seiko just stared at Arnold as he continued to employ his sign language or whatever it was. A salaryman who was hopefully more effective with his gun than with his communication. Wonderful. Instead of dwelling on that she continued to observe the people who waited in front of the Wal Mart. At least two of them had guns. They were near the ambulance and one of the people, she noticed as she got closer, looked like he might be said vehicle's driver. She moved slowly now, using what cover she could find to stop and observe the situation from a new vantage point.

Part of her knew they must have seen her running towards the store, and that hiding wasn't going to make them think she wasn't there. It was just force of habit. A habit that had kept her alive the past week after the dead made the living their personal buffet. Once she had about 50 yards to go she gave up on the cover and just walked straight towards the people, shotgun at the ready. The black woman had what appeared to be scalps hanging from her belt - that was enough to put the survival minded Japanese girl on edge. Without waiting for an explanation, she stepped close enough to be within range and raised her shotgun into firing position, aimed at Scalps.

"Drop gun.. now," she growled, looking very serious about using her weapon if she had to.

Another girl with a gun. So much for the zombie apocalypse being a sausage fest. The woman, deciding to temporarily bow to the tactical superiority of the small Asian girl with a shotgun, holstered her pistol and held both arms out, hands open and empty in a gesture of peace.

She was not one of those freaks, she thought, one eye drifting to Scalps' namesake.

So many women... with guns, too. Arnold was beginning to feel intimidated, and began to figure that his whole idea of Grateful women bowing before him as a saviour was seeming much less realistic. Still, he could at least try to say something here.

"Okay, can we ALL put down our guns now? None of us are zombies, and I'm sure we all want to live, so let's just... negotiate here."

More guns. Lovely. But more people, too.

Rick exhaled explosively. Well, at least the mystery of the scalps were solved, somewhat. Didn't answer the question of who collected scalps in the first place, though. "Right... Right. Shirts is right. Let's just... put the guns down. We don't need to kill people on top of these zombies..." I hope. "We got off to a bad start, so let's try again - how far's your 'Compound'? How many people?"

Rick was probably judging their whole 'Biker' persona too harshly. Maybe they were good bikers.

Seiko caught the woman's movement out of the corner of her eye and nodded to show she'd seen it. She wasn't going to take any chances with armed people, no matter who they were. The Japanese girl was terrified of what they might do to or make her do; having superior firepower was one way she could ensure that she could protect herself. Maybe the only way. Despite what the two men spoke she wasn't about to lose that advantage, and kept her shotgun trained directly on the scalp carrying woman. Her eyes were filled with primal determination at that moment, reflecting the likelihood that she'd fire at the slightest movement she considered hostile.

Gabby's hiding spot had been found out more quickly than she would have liked. Before she could even level her weapon, however, a lot of things happened. The ambulance driver, the woman with the gun (not the one with the scalps, the other one), the rest...

Maybe if I don't move, they'll ignore me... You know...because they're not psychos with guns, they're dinosaurs...

Once the situation calmed down a bit, as in "no one's brains are splattered all over Gabby's shirt," she followed the rest out into the parking lot. Then came the Japanese-looking girl and the other guy. She kept a hold of her pistol, but didn't say a word. Better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're an idiot than to open your mouth and prove it. besides, it seems to be working for the black-haired girl...

Arnold turned to Seiko, and tried to calm her down.

"Look... Just put down the gun, okay? I think we're safe with these people, and besides, do you really want to start a gunfight when there are zombies around?"

Seiko glared at Arnold when he tried to intervene, unmoving from her position of relative advantage. She wasn't about to let the armed bikers be a threat to her. It didn't matter that zombies were around; humans could be pretty bad themselves. At least you knew what zombies wanted to do, nice and straightforward.

"No," she responded to the salaryman, nodding towards the bikers, "They put down first... or I shoot."

Arnold moved in closer and tried to consult Seiko further.

"It's great that you're being cautious here, but the thing is, I don't think they'll lower their guns until you do either, and we really don't want to be caught in a stalemate, ok?"

Grudgingly, both bikers holstered their guns. "Now calm the fuck down, will ya?", Scalps asked.

Holstering was different from putting the guns down, but it would have to do for now. In response the Japanese girl lowered her shotgun, but kept it ready in case any zombies did show up. Or in case the bikers decided to try and draw their weapons on her after she let her guard down. The fierce glare was still in her eyes as she stared at the bikers, then looked over the others present. Finally she reasoned that for now they wouldn't be a threat and nodded very slowly while that thought went through her mind.

"Ok," she concluded, then waited the see how the others would proceed.

Satisfied that everything had calmed down, Arnold decided to introduce himself to the group.

"Now that that's cleared, I'm Arnold, and this right here is..."

Arnold then turned to Seiko.

"Actually, I don't know your name."

She was surprised. The raiders put away their guns after all. Unexpected, but not unwelcome. Saved ammunition.

Nodding at Arnold, she pointed to a badge pinned just a few inches below the shoulder strap of her sleeveless t-shirt. It was imprinted with a name, and a title. Sharon Harkness and underneath it, Firearms Instructor.
