Really? That should be suitably epic.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Well I didn't want to make a new topic but the First Version with a campaign of this is finally out I thought TV Tropes should know.
Creepers: They're like raptors except they explode.I was going to say that Wind Waker wasn't among the "darker" titles in the series but thinking it over it is.
Says more about Zelda not being a particularly heavy franchise than it does about Wind Waker. It has a destroyed kingdom, but is overwhelmingly optimistic despite. Everyone's moved on and is getting along well, there isn't even a worry that the great sea is going to go to crap anytime soon, you're just trying to find you're sister, then your friend.
Twilight Princess(the enemy is steadily advancing and forcibly turning civilians into monsters you must cut down), Ocarina(we let a Bad Future come, better fix it), Zelda II(Game over, the return of Ganon) are only marginally "darker" and even the "darkest" entry in the series, Majora's Mask, has beaver races, a giant phallus, cow stealing aliens and hands in toilets demanding paper.
Can't really fault the maker of the mod, authors of the Hyrule Historia tried to make Zelda sound like a never ending saga of war and bloodshed when little is to be found in the exploration heavy puzzle games. The only thing that really pushed any Zelda over the top was the onscreen molestations by moaning, rotting corpses. Even that I see as Values Dissonance since molestation is often used for humor in Japanese media(HUSTLE's Razor Ramon HG, Transformers Kiss Players, ect)
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackZelda's not supposed to be overwhelmingly dark. That's what Metroid is for. Zelda's a middle ground between light and dark. Something bad happens, but everyone gets through it. Except those who die. There seem to be hints of a relatively light afterlife for Hylians. So even those who die can move on.
Grimdark really isn't good at all. If you even survive such a world, the best you'll be is either psychotically happy or a total cynic. At worst? -Shudders- You do not want to survive to become something Grimdark yourself. Insert Nietzsche quote about abysses and such here.
As far as content goes, Nintendo is one of the more responsible companies.
On the actual topic, I like the Total War games, and will keep an eye on this mod. For now I'm not set up to deal with a Kingdoms mod, and the last one I'd tried had damaged my base game without even working properly for me. Doesn't mean I won't get it, but I know it'll be a while.

I know Total War is a good game and all, but I would honestly wonder why this isn't a mod of King Arthur The Role Playing Wargame (obviously not the sequel, since it came out this year, if I remember correctly), since it's much more suited towards supernatural units and spells and whatnot, not to mention it's a pretty damn good game in its own right, even if a bit flawed in some respects, it is probably one of the few alternatives to Total War in recent years.
Total War's special attacks do allow for a certain level of magic, they just don't use said magic in the vanilla game is all. Either game would work fine for this.
So, with that said and knowing you make fan games, get to it!
Also, why does this get its own thread when the Total War franchise already has one, and we discuss other mods there as well?

If I could model and do mods and stuff, I'd do it myself. :p
Find out the programming language they used for KA, and find someone who knows the engine. After that it's just a matter of getting a team together to figure out different stuff, and moderate them while doing what work you feel comfortable with.
You do have to work on it, of course. No one gets far just leading the team.
I say, is the mod still being worked on?
Well version 2.1 has been up since Christmas and I wanted to say for those of you who don't keep a hawk-eye on it that the new version is awesome. 1. Ruins were added which you can excavate for money and troops (Armos to be specific). 2. Tons of new campaign playable factions which include, The Twili, Ikana, Stalfos, River Zora, The Sheikah, and finally the Wizzrobe all with unique abilities. The Twili live in a unreachable area that can only be entered and exited from a Mirror of Twilight. Ikana doesn't need to create units they have fissures that just spawn units to a certain amount replacing them whenever they die after a few turns. The Stalfos don't take over towns they burn them down and for those who they fight their dead get turned into more stalfos if a general is in the stack. The River Zora also don't live in cities but spawn from Rivers and have no starting settlements instead and when they take cities they can't build anything they can just make units that spawn at nearby rivers. The Sheikah have a stance system one where they get units from Hyrule as long as they own Kakariko and cannot declare war on any of the strict goddess worshipping factions and all towns they take are given to Hyrule at the end of their turn. The other stance is where they switch to playing as normal taking Kakariko if it belongs to Hyrule becoming beatable taking towns for themselves Hyrule and the Goddess factions can declare war and they can be beaten. Finally the Wizzrobe set up churches (really forts) that convert the people of any primarily Human like faction if a general is in the church causing the town to rebel so they can move right in without declaring war. 3. The NPC factions can now join your empire if you make friends giving you all their cities a passive bonus and the ability to create a new building type along with some of their units.
Creepers: They're like raptors except they explode. What about the Darknuts?
I'm interested in this. ^_^ But I don't have Kingdoms yet, so no go.
Oh, if t's based off of Kingdoms, does it feature a Hot Seat Campaign? Because my family would play that to death if it does.

... I may have bought Medieval II and Kingdoms to play this. It was on sale, and I meant to play a game like Total War anyway.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenThe Darknuts have been playable since the first version of the campaign. They work no differently from the normal factions. Although Neph has said he plans on putting things in to make each normal faction different just not as big as the factions I listed.

Creepers: They're like raptors except they explode. How exactly do you install this? I am having trouble with Kingdoms, the mod manager program that he recommends, and the actual mod files not being entirely lined up. I can install the core files, but cant apply the patch.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenI still find this game's version of lore baffling .-. I mean whats point of fan mods that make it based on other series if it isn't accurate? Then again, at least the guy himself is doing his own personal fanfiction mod and not whole group of fans
Also, redeads don't hump people, they grab and bite

The point is to get armies representing creatures from as many games as possible involved. It's not too much more inconsistent than one Zelda game is from another (or at least than they were before the timeline was established. Not sure what'll happen now.)
Can anyone help me install this?
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenNever mind, got it running. Man, I just quit my Geruda campaign, given how the computer seemed to hate me, having the Zuna, Hylians, and Darknuts team up against me. Trying a Darknut campaign.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenHow difficult is the AI in this mod?
I haven't played very much vanilla Total War, so I can't really say. I was having trouble with the over world faction AI in normal difficulty, though.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenGood Lord, I haven't been in here for yonks.
So, they have Faction threads now. That's just spiffing.
Someone tried to put Hyrule Total War on Steam through Steam Greenlight. The dev does not approve.
I can imagine. That's gonna get the mod shut down permanently, and he wasn't even the one that did it.
This is still just a Total War mod! It has Total War in the title! Sega and Creative Assembly aren't gonna say "Oh, it's just Legend of Zelda Total War!" they're going to say "If this is Greenlit we're gonna have to do something even if we don't want to."
He's working on Hyrule Castle Town, now. He finished the castle itself a few days ago. It is immense.
