Given that this is an index, shouldn't this be Animated Tropes, with an S on the end?

Nice inbounds. Support to swap with redirect though.

Adding the word "Index" somewhere would also be nice (in my opinion), though not mandatory.

Animated Tropes would work much better. Vote +1 for a rename.

I agree with the rename, and also think we should tack on the word "index".

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!

Rename. I'm neutral to whether it needs the word "index" or not, but it might be best.

Oh for... guys, why do we need to get more complicated than just pluralizing it?

Animated Tropes for the win.

Being in a Japanese-produced work is not enough of a difference to warrant its own trope.

Keep the high level medium indexes simple and consistent. Animated Tropes is fine.

If we're going to be changing the name for accuracy and consistency, wouldn't it be better to go with the Animation Tropes redirect instead?

Yeah, Animation Tropes sounds good.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Animation Tropes works; I support anything with the plural in its name.

Given that this has been open for over a month without any opposition to renaming, I've attached an Alt Titles crowner with all of the options suggested in the thread. Let's get this finished up.

I don't think we need the crowner, I think we already have consensus. And a grammar fix really ought to be "automatic fix" territory. Can I get someone authoritative to agree?

Based on the thread, it was seven people in support of the current leader and five with a previously stated preference that was not the leader (not counting Deboss and Manga Maniac, who switched). The fact that there should be a switch is pretty much automatic, but the "Animation"/"Animated" and "Tropes"/"Tropes Index" issue hasn't been conclusively decided (though the crowner looks like it will quickly head in that direction).

Belated, but part of the reason index names should be consistently plural is to prevent collision with Playing With names. E.g. Averted Trope vs. Averted Tropes — the latter sounds like an index of, well, trope aversions.

Considering how far ahead the current leader is, I'll call this in 24 hours unless there's a drastic shift in votes.

Crown Description:

Vote up names you like, vote down names you don't. Whether or not the title will actually be changed is determined with a different kind of crowner (the Single Proposition crowner). This one just collects and ranks alternative titles.
