Agreed. Though they're only subbing three shows this cour, I think.

I've tried Ahodomo, sage and Mazui and they're pretty good too.

I'm not that picky about my subbers though.

Why do Sentai freaking Filmworks always license every show I want to watch? Do they want me to die? Are they trying to murder me?

I'm still giving Sentai Filmworks the benefit of the doubt. Their CLANNAD dub was pretty bad, but I think that was more the fault of shitty casting and directing than the actual voice talent available. The pronunciation of names in particular is the responsibility of the director, not the voice actors, so whoever was the ADR director for that series really dropped the ball.

UTW and Mazui are great. I feel that GG's subs are woolseyisms when they aren't trolling. Commie's a hit-or-miss.

Commie recently fired one of it's translators and dropped C3. At least, that's how I heard it.

I just got the joke of why a fansub group would be called Commie. I'm slow.

...There's a joke in there? (Or at least, something more nuanced than "we socialize capitalist pig-subs"?) I thought they just picked a word they found funny.

I found this blog which reviews fansubs for various anime. Currently, they seem to be focusing on Mawaru-Penguindrum for their in-depth analysis, which is a pretty interesting guide to gg's translation choices.
