I wasn't expecting much, but reading that Lowe himself works on it makes it quite appealing.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.Ehhh
I never liked LSL. And not just 'cause I'm gay...just...
It's not offensive or anything..it's just unfunny to me. And sure, I like Portal and Psychonauts humor, but I also giggled constantly while playing through Bulletstorm. I have a mature and immature sense of humor. The jokes just fall really flat in LSL imo.
Unless they make it so Larry can't die like in Love for Sail I'm not interested.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Well, I loved LSL and I'm gay, so there. (Hey, this IS National Coming Out Day today, you know.)
Jonah FalconIn that case...
Bryan Singer is gay, so... yeah...
Jonah FalconRemaking them? I might actually get involved with that, but I do get annoyed when a game with mature subject matter is subject to visual censorship. I hope there's at least an available option for "unrated" play, like with Magna Cum Laude — as lousy a game as it was, it was at least fun from that perspective.
My problem with the original LSL games is their intense reliance on Guide Dang It! to solve the puzzles. I don't know if a remake would necessarily change that.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Although it wasn't up to space quest levels of Dying I do hope they keep all of the ways to fail in the remakes.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans. But but dying was part of the fun!
I'm kind of on the fence about a remake though, even with the creator involved. I mean for one thing, he's not the same Al Lowe he was twenty or so years ago. He's gonna have a different outlook and a different way of doing things. I'm not suggesting he's gonna go all George Lucas on us, but we're sitting here hoping he's gonna be the same Al Lowe from the 1980s, and in that respect we're setting ourselves up for disappointment.
More importantly, he's gonna be working in a different environment. To be honest, most of the fun of those old Sierra adventure games was Sierra themselves, and how they had kind of a "universe" going, where if Roger Wilco pressed that button he would crash into Castle Daventry (or a location from Conquest of the Longbow in the remake). But Trowe isn't Sierra, and Lowe won't have the brotherhood and camaraderie that fueled his creativity there and moreover, might not be able to make little in-jokes to other Trowe games now that everyone is conscientous about IPs. To put it in perspective, it would be like if Marvel put out a Spider-Man comic that wasn't allowed to make references to other Marvel comics. Okay, that's a little different, but still, Sierra presented an atmosphere where being a fan of the company led to being rewarding for being a fan of the games themselves, and I think any LSL, or any non-fan remake, is gonna be missing that.
Even so, here's hoping Al Lowe can find a way to make it work.
visit my blog! It's Paul Trowe. Al is just helping out. Trowe was a 12 year old beta tester at Sierra On-Line.
Jonah FalconSo Trowe is a person, not a company.
The point still stands though: a lot of Lowe's creativity was enabled by Sierra. With Sierra out of the equation, who knows how this'll turn out.
visit my blog!Well, at least it's unlikely that it will be bad as Magna Cum Laude and Box Office Bust.
Granted, that's probably not saying much...
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.Well, it's on Kickstarter now. Nice video by Al Lowe.
Jonah FalconOn FAQ section about why they have it at kickstarter now, well, this was their response by possible investors/publishers(I forgot which) "we like your company but we want nothing to do with Leisure Suit Larry since it will tarnish our good name"
Huh. I guess being in same series as that Magna Cum(*facepalm* NOW I get innuendo in name :P When I first heard game name long time ago, I didn't get it, for those who noticed, I edited this because I went to google the game and discovered its true name) Laude makes you being associated as sleezy game series meaning no one wants to be associated with game series that has a very bad sex based game on it

I may be one of the few gamers who liked Magna Cum Laude, but I never pretended to myself that it was for the high quality of game design. Indeed, if that is the kind of game that the franchise aspires to after all these years, it doesn't surprise me that publishers aren't interested in it.
Edit: I pledged $15 to the Kickstarter. Why not? If it goes through I get a new game to play.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Not aspires
I played it on the Amiga way back when, and I bought it,dammit.
Jonah FalconI hope the game get funds just because of principle of old loved series getting new game without publishers even though I probably won't get the game.
Still, kinda sad to see that funding has somewhat slowed down compared to what it was before Shadowrun got on kickstarter xD Oh well 27 more days to get 325,000 more so I guess they will make it? I don't know much about how usually kickstarter project pledging goes.

So yeah, what do you guys think? Will this get funding?
As with any other project of this type, I suspect the answer to that question is based on how much publicity the project manages to get.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Well, how does it get more publicity? Game journalism sites? Fans telling people about it? What?
Yes. But the franchise has a big stigma to overcome from the debacle that was Magna Cum Laude. That might poison the well, so to speak.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Free Fleshjacks with every copy!
Jonah FalconHmm, yeah, I guess series has reputation of being softcore porn game or something..
And no, not a new game.
They're remaking all the old Al Lowe LSL games.
