Talk about The Shawshank Redemption here.

It was a really good movie in my opinion and I don't know what else to say.

Great film. Did that main actor ever do anything else afterward?

Tim Robbins? Oh yeah he did. Arlington Road, Jacob's Ladder, War of the Worlds, The Player, Mystic River etc. The guy has quite the resume and one of my personal favourite actors. He's also one of the most diverse actors out there, able to do comedy and drama.

As for the film, it's one of my Top 50 favourites. The performances, script, music and characters are all amazing. Seriously, you can't really find a fault in this film, which is amazing since it was director Frank Darabont's motion picture debut. To make of film of this quality and calibre and with only a TV Movie under your belt at that point is quite the achievement in my eyes.

Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.

Clancy Brown as the prison guard is one of my favourite things about the movie.

Yeah, I love just how much of a hardass he is throughout the film just to cry when he gets taken away at the end. Personally, I love Morgan Freeman as Red. Aside from being a cool character, the film is really about him. Everything we see about Andy and everything he did is through Red's eyes. It's really about Red's redemption and how he learned to hope again. To see a character who is so set in his ways, to slowly learn to see things another way, and in the harsh environ of a prison no less, is really moving.

Red was originally Irish in the book, or so I'm told. Casting him as Morgan Freeman made "Maybe it's because I'm Irish" into a brilliant line.

[up]Ha.

But yeah, great film. A few years back my dad was like, "Why is he watching Shawshank? He's already seen it before."

I have so many DV Ds I've never watched that are easy to find online.

I've been wasting a lot of money my entire life.

Anyway, yes wonderful movie.

I thought I was going to suffer from Hype Backlash, especially seeing how IMDB rated this movie as THE greatest movie EVER, but I think it's well deserved.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

[up] And this is the kind of comment that generates Hype Backlash.

Necrouble Post.

I don't get what is people's problem with the title? I mean, what about it? In Korea, it says 쇼섕크 탈출, which means The Shawshank Escape.

The Finnish original translation turned the name into an enormous spoiler: Rita Hayworth: avain pakoon [key to escape] .

I understand that's close to the name of the original short story, but still, spoilery bullshit name is bullshit. The DVD release was retitled Shawshank Redemption: avain pakoon [key to escape].
