I realized that later that day. IF they can keep up a strong cast, Once can still survive this. But they lost a lot of cast members and so far we've only met two replacements who have barely interacted. And they put us right back to square one with an unbelieving adult dealing with a young child that's apparently their own. This is going to be rough.
Well have fun with that. I'm satisfied leaving the show after season 6.
I'm giving the first episode of the next a chance. If it isn't massively horrible, I'll keep going. If it feels like falling back down the six flights of stairs we just climbed, I'm bailing.
Man, that Season Finale felt so much like a series finale..... couldn't they have just ended it there?
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Probably. I liken it to shows like Major Case and The Good Fight, except they didn't change the name this time. They could have called this Twice Upon a Time.
So the new season is out on Netflix. It's such a shame that they keep dragging on with the series. I used to really enjoy it for the first few seasons, till they've run it into the ground.
The new big bad is a new version of the wicked step-mother from Cinderella and pretty much fails to deliver any menace or charm. Hook and Regina are back played cursed rolls believing their a cop and bar owner respectively. And of course we have Rumple back too. I have great respect for Carlyle, but if anything should have ditched it should have been him and the never ending plot blackhole of Rumplestilzkin.
I've actually heard a lot of good things about the new season. Its not 'BEST TV EVERZ' or close to the reception Season 1 got, but it sounds like its better than Season 3 and beyond were.
I'll watch it later on but I'm not against being spoiled so I'll continue reading the thread. Good to know people think it's better than the worst of the rest so far. We'll see if that keeps up.
After seven seasons, Once Upon a Time will conclude its run this May.
When you get right down to it, much as I adored this show in its first two seasons... what were the writers smoking when they decided to make Hook, Regina, and Rumple have Enemy Mine's that made them more heroic, while making Peter Pan, the Magic Mirror, the Huntsman, and even Jiminy Cricket take on villainous roles.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!One could argue that was certainly one of the best times to end the story for rumple.
Haven't seen the last season finale or any episode of this season minus part of one where apparently hook for alternate universe came back.

"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaTo be fair, Peter Pan in the originally book version is pretty dark and if I remember correctly it implies he kills some of the Lost Boys. Making him a villain isn't too much of a stretch.
I've watched all of the latest season. It's... alright. Quite bland. I ultimately can't really remember any individual scene.
They should have let it stick. It was the best way to end his character and then you could develop Belle and Neil beyond 'Rumple's Family'.
All's well that ends well.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!It ended pretty well, all things considered, but dear lord, I think Regina officially rivals Lana Lang from Smallville when it comes to what a blatant Creator's Pet she is.
Didn't watch much of the final season. Only saw the first few episodes, saw they were re-hashing Season 1, and gave up.
How'd the show end?
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.It ended with Rumple dying.
Well, maybe.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Also Regina cast the Dark Curse using a piece of everyone's heart so that it would instead bring everyone together in one place instead of separate them.
Also Henry didn't get to do much and Facilier got a bridge dropped on him.
I mean, Season 7 was awful, but those last 4 episodes (the ones they knowingly created with the ending in mind since they got cancelled by that point) were terrible. Rushing through so many plot points and creating dramatic reveals without logic or resolution.
Like, one of the major plot points is that "Gothel's Dark Curse took us to the real world, but back in time" so Old!Henry gets to have a phone conversation with Young!Henry. However, by the end, the characters have interfered in Storybrooke so much that almost EVERY event of Season 7 could never happen.
This never gets addressed.
Also Regina cast the Dark Curse using a piece of everyone's heart so that it would instead bring everyone together in one place instead of separate them
And then is crowned "The Good Queen" over the entire merged realm, hence my Creator's Pet remark.
It ended with Rumple dying
That was the best part of the finale. Wasn't as powerful as his first Redemption Equals Death, but it was still pulled off well. It helps that his Heel–Face Turn from the Season 6 finale actually stuck throughout this season.
However, by the end, the characters have interfered in Storybrooke so much that almost EVERY event of Season 7 could never happen.
This is why time travel is one of the most despised elements of fiction: you risk creating paradoxes.

Unless your story focuses on Time Travel (and thus the paradoxes are not just there but an active force in the conflict and plot of the story), it should never be brought up. Harry Potter is probably the only time I've seen it become a one off plot element and still work since the In-Universe justification is 'No one is stupid enough to try it since its way too complicated and you're more likely to fuck things up than actually be successful at your intended goal anyway'.
And then Cursed Child showed up and we don't talk about Cursed Child.
Also, Rumple dying tried so hard to be a moment when I was all 'K, bye, you over stayed your welcome you abusive piece of shit' and then he got his happily ever after with Belle and I was mad.
But then... with the time travel nonsense... wouldn't that logistically undo Rumple's death? There's no way Season 7 could happen now... Ugh. I'm so confused.
And I'm just waiting for the Once Upon a Timing Podcast episode to just scream into the void with other people because 'GOD WHY'.
Also, I love how they offhandedly mention 'BTW, Maleficient's baby daddy is Zorro, a character we've never mentioned or named before'. Interviews reveal that apparently its Zorro the masked mexican swordsman from comics which... also means he's a dragon? What? How? Huh?
To be honest, I thought they said Zoso was her father the first time, who was the Dark One before Rumple which didn't make the answer any more interesting and just created more continuity problems since Zoso died A LONG ASS time ago. Like, before Maleficient even was born.
Law and Order isn't the kind of show that needs a strong central cast to focus on. The premise alone can do that.
