Well, the writers apparently came right out before the season began and said they plan to introduce a gay couple.

At this point I think we're just waiting to see if it's Red Warrior or Brave Warrior.

Personally I hope its Merida-Mulan. They have significantly more chemistry.

Going off "how many more episodes are they known to be in" it pretty much has to be Ruby/Mulan. Which.. Well, that is one heck of an attractive couple at least.

lol yeah. But I wouldn't mind if Merida was made a reoccurring character, though lord knows the cast is already too big XD

While I like Merida-Mulan better, Red-Mulan does seem more likely in the long run, since we've been told the couple won't actually happen util the second half of the season with this first half just being set-up.

Who is the actress playing Merida, btw? And, is that her real accent?

BTW, I still find it funny that TWICE they've gotten away with Merida saying "arse". I mean, yeah, it's basically the same as "ass", but for some reason "arse" has been taboo for American TV for years.

Her name is Amy Manson, and since she's actually Scottish, I would say that's probably her real accent, yes.

And "arse" has never been taboo (at least, after the point where mild swearing was allowed on TV, anyway). It's just not relevant to most American shows, since its use is completely regional.

I googled her name and found this video. Seems like it is her natural accent.

Finished it late, but it was a nice two-parter.

I love that they explained what happened to Ruby. That would have bugged me until the series ended.

And I guess that screenshot I saw on tumblr about Killian turning dark was real, but the preview for the next episode saddens me.

I thought that they were going to be dark and happy together. XP

I like to imagine that, like Emma with the previous Dark Ones, Hook has a version of Merlin in his head. "Accept the power of friendship and love." "Save that puppy. I know you want to." "Come on, Hook, stop being a dick." "What is even wrong with you, man?"

[up]Haha, that would be pretty class.

I wonder why Hook's not been experiencing any hallucinations though, even despite the memory wipe? Because Excalibur's been sealed in the stone for the most part?

Hook's specter would be Emma.

Rumple's was probably the guy he killed, but he was either off-camera all the time or Rumple outgrew him fast.

Well the other Dark Ones could appear all the time, but they prefer to just let the previous one act as the herald to talk to the current Dark One.

Besides I have a feeling that Rumple Dark One would be out to screw over Hook because he despises him.

[up] He likely didn't appear at all considering he was so fed up with being the Dark One he let Rumple kill him to take his place.

Eh, maybe.

But the Dark One really is the Avatar. [lol] Except their only element is dark magic.

I don't think Hook's apparition would be Emma. The way things work on this show is obviously prone to changes and retcons, but based on what we've seen so far, The Dark One 1.0 experiences them because the power of immortality Nimue gained from the Grail retains the personalities of all its previous hosts. Hook's power has only ever been in Merlin, so that's the only ghost he could possibly be seeing. Killian is really the only one to blame for his power being darkified.

That is a good point. I mean Merlin would mean good impulses. But than wasn't Nimue not darkness impersonified until she drank from the Grail? I mean she was seeking immortality and vengeance but

Just finished the two-hour episode.

Anyone who thought that they were hinting at Merida/Mulan has their shipping goggles on too tight. There's absolutely nothing about that episode that indicated anything more than friendship for those two.

Something about Jamie Chung's portrayal of Mulan is off to me, and I think it's the voice. Like, she sounds too young. Not necessarily for the character, but in comparison to Ming-Na Wen.

Dr. Whale is such a sleaze. I love it. And clearly so does the universe, because the one thing he asks is that he not be thrown across the room this time and that's exactly what happens. [lol]

The switchover between footage from the end of Season 3 and new footage of Ruby saying goodbye to Mary Margaret is super obvious thanks to Ginnifer Goodwin losing all her baby weight. Also, I love how that scene hinges on them both totally forgetting that Granny exists. "There's none of your kind here...well, except for your grandmother, the person you care about most in your life."

While I'm really into the Camelot and Dark Swan storylines this year, the DunBroch plot hasn't really grabbed me. Probably because, much like when the Frozen characters were around, making everyone look exactly like they did in the movie is off-putting to me. Her battle outfit and hair style from the flashbacks would have been better as her regular appearance, in my opinion. I was more invested in Merida as a character this week than I have been before, though.

Zelena needs to go. I'd rather not be constantly reminded of how badly they screwed up the Wicked Witch of the West.

And now that Ruby's back, Archie needs to be next. The guy actually had focus episodes once upon a time (no pun intended) and now he's been reduced to occasional cameos. Given the amount of crap our heroes have to deal with on a regular basis, they should be seeing Archie as much as possible. He is a therapist, after all.

Networks rarely run new episodes the same week as Thanksgiving.

That's probably why we had two hours last week. Because the episodes were not integrally connected to one another.

Ah so Hook does have the previous Dark Ones as well.

Edit: That dearie makes me feel like he's definitely learning from Dark One Grumple. I don't like that. I figured he'd try to kill Hook instead.

[lol] "I lied to you to protect you", "I cursed you so I could save you"...everything Emma does is so counter-intuitive.

Killian embraces the darkness better.

For a while I thought that he was going to bring back Mila. But I guess summoning all of the Dark Ones works too.

Wow.

Emma, you fucked up.

I was criticizing Hook for losing that fight, and essentially being 0 for 2 against Rumple even though they'd switched places, but knowing he had a whole other plan changes my opinion.

Oh shit. It's the legion of Dark Ones! We must flee!!!!

Honestly all this season's done is made me really sympathize with Emma a lot. Especially since she chose to give herself up and become the Dark One to protect Regina, yet gets shit on because she literally can't handle the stress of it all and is trying to do her best despite never having her darkness inside her before it entered her.

The darkness is its own character. It just works through the Dark Ones.

Emma uses it ironically to get rid of it. Hook uses it a bit more forwardly.

Is it me or did his guyliner get thicker the moment he learned that Emma turned him dark?
