[up]I've gotten the impression that DC's basically bought out the timeslot. If I'm right, the answer is "they're commercials".

Did you ever see Star Wars Clone Wars (not the current CGI series, the one by Samurai Jack's creator)? I'm thinking they'll be like that, but with superheroes instead of Jedi. Here's a sample.

Also, why am I the only one not super excited about the Teen Titans shorts? I liked the show and all and its nice they're making some shorts, but I'm not, well, rejoicing.

[up]I think people should just move on I loved Teen Titans but these shorts are just there to capitalize on our nostalgia.

Well the nostalgia obviously would result in people clamoring for season six. That much should have been obvious.

Amethyst sonds a lot like classic Magical Girl. I would love a new teen titans aswell

Viewers Are Not Morons after all. I think we all realize that Young Justice and Teen Titans have different versions if the same character, not. To mention different shows.

...Huh. There's shots of what looks like a live-action Jaime Reyes bit. More live action on CN, and insult to injury, it's the nuBB.

[up] I've been waiting on this Blue Beetle show forever, I could care less whether its on CN or CW or ABC.

Not gonna call you out on your name hang ups though. I still insist the stars of LINO are Boring Bunny and Dumbass Duck.

I think the liveaction Blue Beetle short is the remains of a live action Blue Beetle show that was in the works.

Needs more obscure Titans/Justice League members.

My guess is that the shorts will be to try out the animated pilots that never made it to full series like Plastic Man's. This is probably the result of Warner finally realizing they have been sitting on a mountain of great unused characters and stories (as Batman The Brave And The Bold proved... man I never thought they could make me care about Bwana Beast!!)

Btw very happy to see that they finally did something with Amethyst. They could really have exploited her back in the Sailor Moon fad era, but the comics ruined her (I'll spare you the details, but trust me, it was gruesome.)

Did I see a Funny Animal Justice League? They could have used Captain Carrot And His Amazing Zoo Crew instead.

So is DC Nation a What A Cartoon styled show, or is it just a series of DC themed commercials under a specific banner?

Its a program block. Think Toonami, but just DC shows and shorts.

No, you're not. The show was fun and good, but it's time has passed. I like the shorts and want to check them out, but I'm not clamoring for a new season or anything.

Also, I really want a Doom Patrol series, and though I love Teen Titans for finally giving Beast Boy and Doom Patrol some exposure, I'd prefer a different characterization than the one they gave them in the show.

Actually, they hinted at Doom Patrol shorts when they announced this whole DC Nation thing. You may get your wish!

With so many shorts series in the works, I wonder how they're gonna schedule them...

Huh. It flickered past so fast that at first I figured it might be the Justa Lotta Animals (Earth C-Minus, rather than Earth-C tongue), but it looks more like... Ren And Stimpy..? At least, that's the first thing that comes to mind with the animation style :/

A look at the Aardman shorts. Think Creature Comforts with superheroes! It's also hella adorable.

I am looking forward DC Nation. Super Best Friends Forever sounds good because I like Lauren Faust's work on My Little Pony, and Amethyst sounds good because I love the Magical Girl genre. I I also like that two of the shorts series will have female protagonists.

Does anyone have information on the release date? The Young Justice wiki http://youngjustice.wikia.com/wiki/Misplaced says that the next new episode is scheduled to air on March 3, 2012, so I think DC Nation might premiere on that date or close to that date.

I have a hypothesis as to why Amethyst shorts will be aired. It announced a while ago that Nickelodeon bought the rights to Winx Club. Cartoon Network wanted something to compete with Winx Club that would aimed at girls, and decided to adapt Amethyst.

I think it was said that part of the reason they're doing all these different shorts is to promote some of the lesser known DC franchises. Notice how they rarely make a full fledged series that doesn't involve Batman and/or Robin?

Annnnnnd we finally have an airdate for the block! Saturday, March 3rd at 10am ET/PT. Its an hour long block.

Also, new clearer picture of Lauren Faust's version of Supergirl. Kinda looks like a teen version of Bubbles in a Supergirl outfit.

On a side note, I think that's the first time IGN has ever mentioned My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic :P

Can we all try not to be cynical about this? It looks great! Creative and different, and the format gives the animation folks a chance to experiment with different styles and different characters. I've long thought that the short-form cartoon needed to make a comeback, precisely for this kind of reason. You can potentially get a lot of good stuff on the air without having to commit to a whole series. More good stuff is always a good thing.

To me, this seems like the Cartoon Cartoon Show... for DC stuff.
I'm OK with that, too.
