I'm not too worried about it. I play as a guy, usually. Might be a deal breaker for some though

Eh I'll be doing a guy and a girl.

ANYWAYS, seems Tides of Destiny was released today.

At least for me. I live in WV so maybe it's just for the east coast.

Okay so don't expect to farm....because you can't. Your monsters do EVERYTHING for you...you have to feed them cookies. You don't buy seeds or anything, your magic wand(that is never explained why you have) makes sprouts grow.

It's sad and I hope to god when Rune Factory 4 on the 3DS comes out, they go back to letting you farm yourself. But it's a new system and I'm thankful they're experimenting...and as much as I hate to say it....it is sort of a relief not to have to farm. You're more of a boss who takes care of his employees who then do the work. Meanwhile, you can go treasure hunting, fishing, cooking, fighting, etc.

Also the hottest guy in the game, Joe, is a bachelor. This makes up for the lack of bachelors, I swear to God. <3

Oh btw, expect to not do anything for at least an hour or two. It's worth the looong introduction, trust me. I might like this more than Frontier..I'm not sure yet.

Do you get to see the crops grow and choose what to grow?

I can watch them grow but no, not choose. At least not yet. It might be different..I dunno. Farming doesn't appeal to me in Rune Factory anyways..I usually mine and stuff.

The main focus of this is combat and story. Farming is an after thought. However the other activities are fine.

Like I said farming is weird but you just need to get use to it.

Has anyone seen the info on the new Harvest Moon game, that seems to be dubbed "Land of Beginning"? You can customize your farmer and the bachelor/ettes look pretty adult-ish.

No, info is COMPLETELY scarce. All we know is that like Rune Factory 4, it will be for the 3DS, and as you said, you can now customize your character(squee!)

It seems You Gotta Have Blue Hair is in effect with hair color choices, I've seen a picture with main characters with blue, pink, and green hair.

Good God those character models are awful.

I thought it would be Animal Parade-esque.

Well, it seems to be made by the usual artist, and it is a portable game, even though the 3DS is pretty powerful.

That's what strikes me as odd. The new Animal Crossing game looks better than the Wii...the new Resident Evil has better graphics than the PSP....why are the designs this bad? o_O

Some of the screenshots look better, but we haven't seen much of official images that are in good quality. Maybe it has to do with the style of it, but we will have to see.

Been playing Tides of Destiny. It's kind of weird how nobody in this game is any way weirded out by Sonja and Aden being in the same body.

I thought the lack of farming would bug me, but strangely, the rest of the game design is fun anyway. I'd rather they do more farming the next round, but honestly, in Rune Factory, as long as they beef up the dungeons and the social aspects (which so far it seems they are), you can get by with less of it.

I'm thinking I'll probably dig out the box my Wii is in and drag Frontier out again once I finish though.

So, I'm thinking of picking up Animal Parade. I already have Tree of Tranquility though. For people that played both, is Animal Parade good enough to pick up anyway? Right now I can easily acquire it for $20...but there's a lot of things I could still get for $20.

Animal Parade is a lot more enjoyable to me then Tree of Tranquility. Even though they share most of the characters, the story makes unlocking them feel like an achievement, and the additions are interesting. I like how the girls now have a male equivalent to the Harvest Goddess and the Witch.

I think it is worth twenty bucks.

Animal Parade is my all time fave Harvest Moon game.

And yeah I agree with the farming and also how everyone is like "Same body? Weird? OKAY SO ANYWAYS CAN YOU GO GET ME SOME NOT WHITE OR BLACK GRASS TO MAKE INTO PAINT?"

Then again this is a world with golems and goblin pirates and dragons so a spell gone wrong probably happens alot.

Also is it just me, or is the priest a homo? Because is so, it's fucking awesome they made him the priest who's all like "I SHALL PROTECT EVERYONE!"

Looking up stuff on Animal Parade, the only thing that would really bug me is the species limit on Livestock :P Who's bright idea was that? Ah well, is it that much of an issue?

No.

Animal Parade is fucking amazing. I mean it's perfect.

ALSO YOU CAN BUY NEW CLOTHES AND MIX AND MATCH THEM TO GET A NEW OUTFIT

Oh man, the clothes selection is alone worth it. It isn't just 3 outfits recolored that you wear during warm and cold season. there is a whole selection.

And the animal thing isn't that big of a deal if you figure ahead of time what you want. You can get a free cow on day one, sheep can be milked, and you can ride every barn animal. Some are faster than the other. I prefer to have a sheep, and ostrich, and either a goat or a cow, depending on if I want a lot of milk, or a faster critter.

I like the red china clothes with the tiara. And which player character did you choose? I chose the Animal Parade Heroine. I like her, she is a bit more cute, even though the To T character's spunky look makes more sense.

I love the clothes too. XD I tend to pingpong between the outfits and hats I like, but I always wear a topaz pendant, a peridot brooch, and a diamond ring. The peridot broach is because it's my birthstone, and the diamond and topazes were Calvin's dating gifts before I accessorized them. There are other bachelors who give stones as gifts, and I've turned them all into accessories, but I wear Calvin's because, well, y'know.

As for Tides of Destiny's selection, sorry, but it's gotta be glasses-man for me. I almost always go for the bespectacled one, and Calvin's my only exception thus far.

You really can't go wrong with Calvin. If I wasn't so adamant about making sure everyone is coupled up, I'd totally go for him. He's sweet, and a Indiana Jones expy.

I chose Owen in Tree of Tranquility since he didn't have a rival. He's pretty cool too.

Though, most of the characters in both games are likable in their own ways. Hard to hate them, unless you are the type that hates a character just because they are a rival to someone you like.
