I need help identifying these. I consider myself a huge Super Mario fan, and something of an expert on the series, but can't seem to find out where these sprites come from. Which is a shame, since they're incredibly well-drawn.

Screenshot's from Super Mario Blitz, a trippy fanmade music video from Newgrounds. The video also features sprites of Wario in the same style.

They look familiar, but in a reminiscent sort of way - I want to say it's from one of the educational games, but I can't think of one with that exact style.

Thanks to Deezer of themushroomkingdom.net, I've found out they're from Mario's Super Picross, a Japanese-only release. Thanks anyway.

Now, to find out the source of this infamous gif.

I think that might be from an advertisement.
