I'd appreciate Meghan Trainor's gimmick more if she came off as a tad less obnoxious in her delivery.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy. Her vocal style is just dull and grating in its dullness.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. That, and her white girl rapping is plain terrible.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.EDIT: It's not working on Blip's website, so just watch it on his Twitter.
Was I the only one who expected the Miley Cyrus song of the same name to be the closing song?

Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.Heh, figures he puts up a video on "See You Again" just as it gets dethroned from No. 1 by "Cheerleader." Wonder what he thinks about that one.
He usually tends to end his pop song reviews with an older song that's thematically similar, so I wasn't expecting anything less.
I'm really glad this song isn't #1 anymore. I have barely even heard it lately and I'm still incredibly sick of it. And I was so glad when Todd said Puth was the worst part of the song. I'd never actually seen what he looks like before now, but that voice and his appearance just gives me the vibe of "12-year-old choir boy turned castrato." I don't always mind singing like his, but combined with the utterly empty sappiness of that chorus...just ick.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I just checked Todd's Twitter. Apparently Blip is closing down a month from now.
It looks like Todd and the rest of the Channel Awesome team will have to find another site to upload their videos on.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy. So my Blip app (that was taken out of the Google Play Store like a year ago and doesn't update the charts anymore) is gonna be completely useless then?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I felt the review was somehow more sad than the song tbh. Todd just sounds...kinda defeated by pop music's lack of artistic integrity I guess.
That doesn't sound like an opinion Todd would express, not in such general terms.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I think the thing that has Todd down on pop music right now is that the charts have been incredibly stable the last couple years and the bad music is bad in a much more boring way than when he started.
Partly also due to the fact that many of the artists he tackles have multiple hits, which means that with each passing review of an artist X Todd has less new things to say about them.

I heard Todd saying that it's kind of harder for him to keep up with because he lives in New York City where can't drive and listen to the radio.
It's probably more annoying to get material for reviews when you have to actively seek out specific pop songs (especially ones that are really boring) instead of just listening to what ever comes on the radio. He probably a little less enthusiastic as a result.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianJust kinda caught up, and yeah, Todd's pretty much on point with everything on "See You Again". I never got to see Fast 7, so I never realized it was written for the movie, and knowing that it makes sense why it got popular. The Fast And The Furious, despite starting off pretty confused and mediocre, has since the fifth one become the blockbuster franchise it always wanted to be, which helped make Walker's death very high-profile. Hell, the fifth one is also the only reason most Americans have even heard of "Danza Kuduro", though at least that song was a well-done party beat. Like Todd said, Walker's probably not spinning in his grave, but "See You Again" is still kinda disappointing as a tribute and farewell.
As for songs to tackle next, I personally would like him to smack down "Cheerleader".....as in the shitty remix that they keep playing instead of the original. More realistically, a good target right now would be "Bad Blood". The song heralded as the great return of Taylor Swift could use getting knocked down a couple pegs.
I'm still hoping for Ellie Goulding, but her new songs just might not have enough to say about them.
Honestly I feel out of the loop of pop music lately, I'm not sure there have been more than like 5 new songs in the past 3-4 months.
Might be interesting to see him do Can't Feel My Face once the video comes out. I remember him tweeting that his opinion on The Weeknd had changed since it came out (and his previous opinion was, judging by his 2014 Top Ten, not good), so it'd be cool to see him detail that change.
This tweet suggests that he's already working on something, though, so it's probably not that. I think he's also said he has no plans to do a review on Bad Blood, but plans can change...
Wasnt he supposed to do a One Hit Wonderland for Hanson?
I'm pretty sure he just showed that request because he thought it was ridiculous to consider Hansen a one hit wonder. I don't think he was seriously considering doing an episode.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianOkay, I just watched the new episode.
I was wrong!
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianCare to link it or say what it is?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. It's the early release for Patreon backers.
It's A OHW for Mmmbop by Hanson
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianI think this is a first for One Hit Wonderland, where he doesn't really care for the song, but really likes the band.
Concerning the last part of the episode... Rage Against The Machine? Really?
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.
He used the words "Runaround Sue" in the review, and that really is how the instrumental track sounds to me.
