It really need a B-plot. The Hot Tub stuff was just a little to out there to carry the entire episode.
Yeah, but with both the musical format and the cutaway narration by Cee-lo Green, a B-plot likely would have made the episode feel too unfocused. Special episodes like this tend to not have any other plots going on anyway and if they do, they're heavily tied into the A-plot.
Anyway, I loved the premiere. The ending had me cracking up, dark as it was. Cee-lo: "Well, there you have it. That's our story. Stan's dead. Goodnight." I had no idea going in that this was going to be a musical episode, so I was pleasantly surprised that Cee-lo Green's guest starring role was more than just a gimmick. He did an awesome job as the evil hot tub, and all the songs were remarkably catchy. I love some R&B.

The premiere was fantastic; so much good silliness. The only thing I didn't like was the one musical number in the middle went on too long, but that's minor.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Damn it, the lyrics "Do whatever you like" have been stuck in my head all day >.<
That being said, great episode of weirdness.

Power corrupts. Knowledge is Power. Study hard. Be evil. And I've just recently heard that this episode was actually made for last season when the American Dad writers weren't sure if the show would be renewed or not. This episode was written so that it would work as a season finale, hence Stan dying at the end.
If that's true, then it actually kinda fills me with dread for when they do a series finale for real.
I love this show and the premiere was awesome. Anyone still saying that American Dad is generic can kindly shut the hell up now.
3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541Hot Water is now my favourite Musical Episode now, Also I love the voice of the Hot-Tub

Just saw the hurricane episode. Really good episode, especially Stan flip-flopping on the episode's Aesop, the shark attacking, and Klaus's ruined Moment Of Awesome. Don't really see what purpose Roger's girlfriend served, though.
P.S. Oh, yeah, and what happened to Craig?
agreed, awesome episode
but what did Klaus do awesomely? I wasn't paying full attention...
It wasn't really awesome...
Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them. When the house flooded, he did this big speech about how he was now the one with free reign off the house while everyone else was kept confined, laughed, dived in the water . . . then suffered horrible pain because it was salt water and had to beg to be put back in his bowl.
The bear was the best part.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Better then the previous one and was just a wtf moment.
Principal Lewis has sure been in a lot of episodes lately.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. Why yes, yes he has.
What's really interesting is this characterization of him only really started at the beginning of the previous season, but they've already gotten to the point where him not acting that way is a plot point.
And it looks like Francine's time in prison let her build up a reistance to shivving.
I was going to say the same thing.
3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541Personally, I'm starting to see Lewis as a Creator's Pet.
And didn't he used to have a daughter?
One of the popular girls. But he's ashamed of her for more reasons than you can imagine.
3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541American Dad always does the craziest shit on their Christmas episodes.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Gotta wonder what happened to Santa's vendetta against the Smiths, though. Unless manipulating Jeff into adopting the Anti-Christ was part of his plan.
I'd love for next year's Christmas episode to turn into the anti-Christ vs. Santa with the Smiths stuck in the middle.
Bumping an old thread instead of making a new one to post some news:
And there goes my last reason to watch Animation Domination.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
What did people think of the season premiere?
Personally, while it had some good moments, it just felt really . . . odd. Not in a surreal humor sort of way, just in a "everything feels slightly off kinda way." But, given the ending (which was hilarious) they might've been aiming for that.
