I personally would prefer them retconned out and would be happy to help speed up the deletion of posts and stuff from the wiki about them etc. But the others have insisted on keeping them. So, fine then. If the others want to, then that's fair enough, I'm not going to stop the korpers being used, but I'd still like to keep an eye on them.

And I agree, it would've been a lot easier if I'd just gone with the idea of using a race that had no former connections. I'd have been fine leaving it to you guys, in that case, but it's partly because I still want to use the korpers for other stuff that it feels awkward. The extra irritating thing is that when I joined, I considered using a different race (the Jebralgi) who have since gone on to be seperated from my sci-fi setting and whom I have little future use for. :/

The thing I never got, was how come the korpers didn't fit with the setting? I mean, was it the xenophobia? That's not exactly abnormal for this setting. Was it their biology? Maybe, but come on, you've got the Euralian, sentient swarms of insects in mobile cacoons and communist space bunnies.

Hell, I even took out some aspects of their design both for this and my own worldbuilding project when people pointed out the design was silly (things like the gestalt and explosive blood) and impractical for a bunch of highly chaotic mechanics/artists/barbarians.

Thanks for critiques on the language. Eh, I agree with you about that: at first the korpers were meant to be comic relief in a manner similar to the Orks, but then they kind of changed, and the result is a language that's not 'humourous' or 'silly' or even 'weird' in a good way. It's just... awkward and doesn't quite sound right. I think I may need to modify the root words a fair bit, and maybe mix up the grammatical/sentence structure somewhat...

On one final point, I used to live in Malta and have relatives there. Nice place! :D

Okay then. Having spoken to Faux, I'll be going now. I might still keep an eye on how the RP unfolds but I'll refrain from posting too often. Or ever, um, that too, maybe. I'm not going to offer advice about 'stuff' in general or anything, but if you guys want any extra details about the korpers, just let me know. I'll be happy to provide extra details.

I apologize for how things turned out. I should have realized that this RP was not geared towards a 'total war' situation on a galactic scale, and I should have created something from scratch in accordance with that. I will say that I never quite intended a 'total war' situation with the korpers: I intended for (maybe) two or three big battles with the Karnis, tops, and the Karada teaming up with the others, forming alliances to both dispose of the Karnis and to do other 'alliance-y stuff' about resources and such. I was actually hoping for some proper politics and such!

Though I'll admit I at one point spoke to rabbit rider over PM and we discussed/joked about the idea of the Karnis and the SAD forming a 'terrible storm' that would sweep away everything else, the idea was also quickly dismissed and I don't think it was ever necessarily intended as a serious thing.

I also realize now why the korpers don't fit in (they're essentially big and noisy and boisterous but honest and friendly at heart - the opposite of the others, who act like (gasp) actual politicians). I understand that this is nothing personal against me, it's just how things go. I concede. I'm in the wrong.

Good day, properly. One final question, however: if a similar RP to this ever gets formed in the future, or a sequel to this one, would I, um... would I be considered? Or automatically shut down?

That would be up to the GM of that game. Who none of us can speak for, since it hasn't been brought into existence yet. But given the right characters and right setting we can certainly look forward to what the future holds.

[up][up]The idea of a sort of profile request in submission for those who didn`t get an explicit invite was batted around before and I think it`d make sense for the sequel, if not the future of this game. If that goes through and you posted links to a couple R Ps where there was improvement and it looked like things were changed enough that history wouldn`t repeat itself, I don`t see why not.

I really don`t think there`s really any bad blood that would bar you from the sequel automatically.

For an RP similar to this one, I think it would depend on the DM since it could be someone completely different with no relation to ourselves.

Okay, then...lemme see... in order, we have the: Vhak'ta class, a type of lightly-armed diplomatic shuttle which serves as Zael Tofismet's personal transport; the Shar'djahnn class, a 475 metre-long destroyer that was created during the Silent Crusade and which is still in use today; and the Bhriihk'da class, a general-purpose starfighter which can also serve (somewhat poorly) as a three-legged terrestrial patrol/support vehicle.

I've been busy with other things of late (mainly studying for exams), but I have been giving some thought towards giving the Ark Reach Overcolony tripods of some description, ones more dedicated to that task than their Bhriik'da-class starfighters.

If Sullen is busy then perhaps it would be better to adjourn the meeting. That way the others are free to converse among themselves individually, see the rest of the station, start whatever subplots they want, until our chairman is ready.

I'll try to get a post adjourning the meeting up tomorrow or Wednesday, then. For now, though, I've done some work on those tripods I spoke of earlier; would have posted something for them on the Wiki, but unfortunately I can't figure out how to make a template. So, for now I'll simply post what I have thus far here and possibly in the worldbuilding thread as well.

Ap’sonh-class walker

Service: Ark Reach Overcolony
Type: walker
Height: 4 metres
Maximum speed: 90 km/h (with wheels deployed, on flat terrain); 60 km/h (with legs only)
Armament: x1 medium repeating plasma cannon, x1 modular grenade launcher (12 grenade capacity, payload varies)
Complement: none
Crew: 1
Minimum crew: 1
Passengers: none
Cargo capacity: 125 kg
Consumables: 2 standard days

The Ap'sonh-class walker is a light anti-infantry walker used by the Ark Reach Overcolony. A successor to similar models employed in the days of the Kin Imperium, it is a fast and manoeuvrable vehicle built to harass enemy infantry and perform reconnaissance for the Overcolony’s ground forces.

Characteristics

Like many of the Overcolony’s purely terrestrial military vehicles, the Ap'sonh is a tripod walker; its multi-jointed limbs allow it to traverse terrain which would pose a significant impediment to tracked or wheeled vehicles, and each ‘foot’ has a number of small wheels which are normally held clear of the ground—at the pilot’s discretion, these wheels can be deployed to provide a significant boost to both speed and manoeuvrability.

The Ap'sonh’s primary armament is a light, repeating plasma cannon, which is slung beneath the main body of the tripod; owing to the vehicle’s rotational symmetry, this weapon can be rotated such that its firing arc will always be between two of the Ap'sonh’s legs, thus preventing the walker from shooting itself in the proverbial foot. The cannon fires low-intensity plasma bolts that, while not powerful enough to significantly damage enemy armatures, are more than capable of killing or maiming enemy infantry; it has two main firing modes, a precision mode which focuses on one target at a time, and a suppression mode which instead has the cannon ratcheting back and forth through its firing arc in a process much like that of an impact sprinkler. In either mode, the cannon fires rapidly and constantly, making it a deadly weapon against ground troops; its only real drawback is the lack of relative range, but as the Ap'sonh isn’t intended to shell enemy positions from miles away this is acceptable.

The vehicle’s secondary weapon, a grenade launcher, is mounted atop the main body of the tripod, and like the repeating plasma cannon it can rotate to face any direction. The launcher is fairly modular, allowing it to be armed with a wide variety of payloads; in all cases, however, the launcher can only hold twelve grenades at a time.

All in all, the Ap'sonh is a fairly versatile anti-infantry vehicle, able to hit fast and hard. This is not to say that the tripod is without its drawbacks, however; its small size, and the power requirements for its main weapon and motors, means that it lacks any form of defensive phase array. In addition, it is lightly-armoured in order to provide its considerable speed and manoeuvrability, thus resulting in a relatively fragile vehicle; its perovskitine hull plating is durable enough to withstand small arms fire without difficulty, but anti-armour and anti-vehicular weapons are another matter entirely. As such, the pilot of an Ap'sonh should never be complacent; it would only take a single, well-placed rocket to bring this agile vehicle down.

Somewhat. They're akin to the legs of the Octuptarra droids from Star Wars, but they radiate from the body of the machine itself rather than from a separate section of it.

They don't perfectly resemble the legs in that image, either, but it's the same general idea in terms of design; the somewhat-spiderlike zig-zag that most spider tanks seem to have in fiction.

Much oblidged.

That post I spoke of the other day should be up shortly; I personally don't think it's the best post I've ever written, particularly not for this thread, but for purposes of adjourning the meeting it should suffice. It's only going to focus on Zael Tofismet, as—due to the nebulous situation with the Korpers—I am honestly not sure what to have Zael Doldorast do at present.

EDIT: And there we have it; if nothing else, it serves to reveal an interesting tidbit about names and the importance thereof in Kin culture.
