All divisions are now clinched. All that's left are the wild card races.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)And the Braves are eliminated. Le sigh...
And so are the Red Sox. Double collapse complete.
Now that the playoffs are set, feel free to discuss the matchups (assuming you are around).

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Crap crap crap crap why did the Tigers have to face the Yankees?
The Tigers have been AMAZING lately but...its the Yankees!
It's not that bad a matchup, I think. Verlander is far better than anything the Yankees can throw out there, so I'm not expecting the Tigers to lose when he takes the mound. If the Tigers can work out a win in one of the other games...
I have no idea how the AL will shape up, although I am expecting the NLCS to be a Diamondbacks vs. Phillies showdown.

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Fucking D Backs...
Though really, my antipathy towards them is largely undeserved. I acknowledge that they played good baseball during a time when the Giants got hit HARD with the suck stick; that doesn't make it sting any less, though.

The Philosopher-King ParadoxThe battles begin...and the Rays look like they are white hot.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Rain delay on the Yankees-Tigers game. Tied 1-1 in the 2nd, will resume tomorrow.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I can't watch. I get too competitive and upset over these events.
Hell, the Wings get past the first round in the Playoffs, every game becomes a heart attack for me.
Well, Taelor ought to be happy, the D-backs dropped Game 1.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Yankees take their first game, and the Rangers even up the series.
On a side note, I'm finding it kind of funny/sad that so far I'm the only participant from last year's thread back in this one.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)(Sigh) Tigers got walloped.
^^ I'm trying to keep track but I was busy yesterday.
Why not just say "Yankees win the World Series" and be done with it?
"Dr. Strangeloid, or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Cleanlink" - thespacephantomBecause it rarely works out that way?
And for the record, it's the Phillies that are considered the shoe-ins, not the Yankees.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)The Yankees haven't been the shoe-in in like 10 years. In the last 6 seasons they've performed....underwhelmingly.
Speaking of the Yankees not being a shoe-in...
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Cardinals come from behind to take Game 2 from Phillies, while the Brewers win yet again.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I'm not really a baseball fan, but I like the fact that they made it into the postseason for what seems to be only the fourth time ever.
Now, what would be hilarious? A Brewers-Tigers World Series and later a Packers-Lions NFC Championship game.
To be honest, I didn't expect the Brewers or the Cardinals to do all that well. They both benefited from having the Astros-Cubs-Pirates losing trio in the NL Central. Take out one of those teams, and the Cardinals wouldn't even make the playoffs. And the Brewers would be worse off.
Looks like the Brewers are out to prove me wrong. We'll see how the Phillies-Cardinals series plays out. (The one thing the Cardinals have going for them is that they did manhandle the Phillies in the regular season.)

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)One interesting thing that I'm looking at is the Brewers. Prince Fielder has already said that he's going to be a free agent at the end of the season. If (and I do mean if) they make it to the World Series, I wonder if that would be enough to keep him in Milwaukee.
Although realistically, I don't see them getting past either the Cardinals or the Phillies, presuming they don't blow a 2-0 lead on the Diamondbacks.
Screw the Yankees!
I want my team to beat them!
You just had to say it, didn't you?
Yankees take a 2-0 lead in the first.

Starting this a little earlier than the one from last year, but it's close enough to the end of the regular season (less than ten games to play for all teams) that I think we can begin.
