[up][up][up] and [up][up] You know what is the last political movement I've participated in? Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity, and that was over a year ago. Since then I've been struggling to maintain my own life, noting who to vote for, and that's about all I have time for. At best I may shortly get involved in Maryland's Health Care for All Coalition, but even that will be a part-time venture at best. The average American does not have the time to do protests that only serve as fuel for the opposition to demonstrate how much of a "problem" the little guy is, and those that do are seen as extremists, or are wealthy enough that they let their money do the talking.

It sucks, but beyond voting and recalling, what can you do?

[up] Damn. And I just want better money and work hours than I'm getting now, too, so I don't have to become an anarchist or revolutionary in the long run.

But I'm going to say I know how those In Michigan feel about all of this. I don't and I don't speak for them!

Indeed, this is ultimately a Michigan problem, and the most immediate reaction (the one with the best chance at making a difference) will come from there.

Yeah if this damned law does go into effect, people are gonna be stripping the whole damn city of Detroit for even more scrap metal than they are now. As it is they are stealing goddamn sewer grates.

People even tried to steal fucking live power lines before. Couple decades and I wager this state might go all Mad Max. Or at least Detroit.

"Hello record of arrest that will likely prevent you from getting a job!"

It's the convictions record you have to worry about, not arrests, and few non-corporate employees bother with background checks, since they're expensive.

And better than thy stroke; why swellest thou then?

The Seattle strike failed because the strikers lost the public relations war, plus the strike leadership was either intimidated or bought out. We can learn from the lesson of the failure.
