Midnight was epic and had great atmosphere and tension, but as a lasting scare, it doesn't measure up. For me, the only thing that ever really stuck were the Dolls from Night Terrors (totally worth repeating) and the mutated Flesh creature in The Rebel Flesh two-parter. That thing was on screen for three minutes and in my nightmares for days.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialI have paranoid schizophrenia (or something) so pretty much everything from Doctor Who that's even slightly scary haunts me at night.
Example: I keep thinking every time I open my door a Silent will be standing there, and my heartbeat gets faster, my palms sweat, and I have to physically resist bolting from the door.
In other words: I really shouldn't watch Doctor Who.

"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."It was a joke
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialAAAANNNDDD I made it through "The Empty Child!"
While I admit to peeking through my eyes when the filter was coming up his throat, I watched the end of it. Not sure what to think of ol' Jack yet. My favorite part was The Doctor's speech to Nancy about England holding out against Germany. Definitely glad I didn't skip it.
The transformation was pretty weird. I expected screaming, bones cracking, scary music, etc. But it wasn't any of those things; it just happened and they didn't make a big "ZOMFG look what's happening!" deal of it. I felt more like I was watching someone die than watching a Transformation Sequence.
Anyway, on to "The Doctor Dances!" But not tonight.

Looking for some stories?I was watching season 5 with someone in the lounge at my university before the summer, and a friend of mine came over and watched the Beast Below and Victory of the Daleks. Yesterday she said she wanted to see more.
Apparently the Beast Below is a good starter, but I didn't really expect that.
Not Three Laws compliant. You should probably know that at one point the Doctor was banished to Earth for a while and did stuff there with a society called UNIT. There he had a semi-companion called Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart ("the Brigadier").
Not particularly important, but the Brigadier does get a few mentions in the series.
Oh, and a previous companion of his was Sarah Jane Smith. She's a bit more important.

I have mixed feelings toward The Beast Below, but the ending, with the whole Star Whale Dilemma and the "very old but very kind", yeah, I can see how that could be a good intro.
I almost can't wait til you get to some of the other best episodes. "You are not alone."
I guess the one with the Human Dalek (pt.1), cause a HUMAN pig just rapes a guy.

Maybe I'm just hard to impress, but I have never been legitimately frightened by the show. I've been kinda creeped out, but even then never really creeped out. The only thing that's ever come close to really scaring me is Midnight, and even that was really more like just getting really tense.
I would have been scared to death of this show when I was in elementary or middle school, though. I scared so easily back then that it's kind of embarrassing.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.
