Not to mention, the first episode adapted a single manga chapter, and the preview for the second one only showed events from the manga's second chapter. There's literally no way to breeze through the first arc that quickly after this.

So we go from dumplings, to meatballs, to buns.

Both of them sound fine, but my brain will never stop thinking Usagi sounds very similar to Hinata Hyuga, especially when she's not arguing with someone, like at the beginning of the clip.

In the subs Usagi is called Odango-head or Buns. Buns is okay too.

If she's called Buns she's bunny.

They better use the nickname Usako. Frikkin love that nickname that Mamoru uses for Usagi.

If he does, it has to be once they actually start dating, which would be towards the end of the first arc.

@Scorpio Rat

You're probably thinking of the manga. In the first anime Mamoru refers to Usagi as Usako in the Black Moon clan arc.

I have to go check my manga copy later, it's been a while. He might have called her Usako in the manga's Black Moon Arc too. I'm wondering how the dub will handle the honorifics system. Will they keep them like Azumanga Daioh did, or drop them all?

So I've been wondering if the Senshi have Super-Strength and all.

The only ones who I recall really do much in the way of strength feats are Jupiter and Uranus.

Minako was supposed to have remarkable physical strenght in Codename Sailor V, where was much more of a brawler.

Minako DID outrun Eugeal's car in the Sailor Moon S arc. For crap sake plz keep the honorifics. Any other Anime/Manga it wouldn't be necessary to have it but for Sailor Moon it's a must.

I agree, this is one of the shows where honorifics are actually useful for showing relations between people.

[up][up][up]I think they all have increased physical abilities, but how much of a boost is based on what senshi they are. I mean, you don't see them get very tired after running around, and they can take a lot more abuse than an average person, and sometimes they move way faster than usual. Venus seems more agility focused, while Uranus and Jupiter have more raw muscle.

Plus by the end of the manga, they can move from earth to the center of our galaxy in a split second in their Eternal forms.

So yeah.

Honorifics in a dub are a no-no. I know the idea of keeping them SEEMS good until you see the trainwreck before your eyes.

Honorifics were used pretty well in FLCL.

I dont intend to use the dreaded W-word but doing that will alienate fans of Sailor Moon who arent into honorifics. Usako will remain. Usagi may call Mamo-chan just Mamo.

Aren't we already "alienating" fans who haven't seen it in Japanese? Every other version uses honorifics anyway... And its not that complicated, they only really need to use -chan, -kun, and maybe -san in specific situations. Besides, I think the English speaking audience is perfectly smart enough to understand the concept if they can be trusted to understand all the other bits of Japanese culture in the show.

Honorifics are useless if you're completely unfamiliar with Japanese. Dubs are for people who're unfamiliar with Japanese.

Yes, but honorifics are untranslatable terms, unlike other parts of the Japanese language. You don't even have to be fluent to understand them. What I'm saying is that if there was honorifics, it would not make the entire show unintelligible to the audience. I've seen people read manga without a lick of Japanese language knowledge and they figured it out with nothing but a quick note explaining the concept.
