Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I am having fun checking them all out. However, there does seem to be a definite "America-centric" slant to most of them— any more from an international perspective?

Thanks, but I was looking for something less formal than an official news site. Comments are often completely off the wall, and the authors of the articles themselves seldom respond to them.

Hard to please, ain't I? I do appreciate all suggestions, however.

Sociological Images often goes into political stuff.

BlackSnob.com also often looks at politics from a black perspective, in fact the author has been a commentator on NPR and PBS.

slacktivist, a blog written by an evangelical Christian who actually cares about the unfortunate. Talks often about labor, economic issues and the hypocrisy of the American Christian Right. Also has hilarious reviews of the Left Behind books.

Al Jazeera and Russia Today are also good for general news.

Russia Today? You're joking, right?

[up]Russia Today is a good source...if you like listening to the nutjobs. The only people they seem to interview are rabidly anti-American conspiracy theorists. And that's not even getting into their actual coverage regarding anything about America.

They really seem to be Russia's Fox News.

The worst part is that many people who distrust the mainstream Western media will believe any nonsense RT gives airtime to.

Though, to be honest, I tend to find more interesting reading in the articles in the "Daily" section.
